Okay, it's finally coming out!
I have to work this weekend so I'll probably put off seeing it until mid next week. I have a few chapters to go until the end of the book. I suggest reading Neil Gaiman's rare, dark and disturbing treat before viewing the film. It's a short and easy read. I will...
I'm with you. It seems much is done to go outside the box for Muppet product design when there are so many superior resources in the Muppet moments vault that are sure-things. :)
We have an African American President a woman Speaker of the House and a former First Lady and senator turned Secretary of State. I feel the time for an African American Disney princess is long overdue. I don't see why Disney films have to contain princesses at all anymore. Not all fairy tales...
Here's my quick and crude comp of a Miss Piggy representation fans would likely prefer. I'm all for funky Piggys as long as we get the classic one too. Right now is the time for the Muppets to get back to their roots.
Since this will be shot with Omnilab in Australia (like Farscape was) and Craig Pearce penned three of fellow Aussie, Baz Luhrmann's films, I think the choice of screenwriter makes perfect sense in the scheme of this production. I'm just glad this isn't going to be shot in some Burbank studio...
I is a good trailer, but it doesn't say much about the movie except how it looks and maybe the tone. I like the lightning bug. He kind of looks like Pepe but talks like Zippity-Zap!;)
Bee Movie had a fantastic art director, but that was about it. I remember Jerry Seinfeld boasting that the idea was sold to Spielberg on the title without any idea what the film would be about. That's terrible.
Here's the official Princess and the Frog website.
Too true! Writing and execution of a film are the determining factors in its success. That and luck. CG is a tool, not a fad, just as traditional animation is also a filmmaking tool. If a film looks good people will come. Period.
I haven’t seen any actual footage for Princess & the Frog...
I had a feeling that Kermit smirk wasn't going to make it. I prefer it and Kermit's longing for a simpler life is the theme of the issue, but Disney probably wants a smiling frog on the cover.
Might I suggest swapping out Scooter in Pepe's place? However, Robin the Frog might be a better size...
It appears they are boasting the materials but have gone quite wrong with the design -especially the Pac Man shaped head. Also, has Kermit been eating grape popsicles? The sagging material in his upper mouth is not justified either. Maybe it looks better in person, but I can't imagine how...
Beautiful!
Bunsen, Beaker, Rizzo, Kermit, Piggy, Sam, Fozzie, Gonzo, Camilla, Animal and even Pepe! We all have our favorite characters, but this is a very good selection. You have captured the spirit and feel of the Muppet Show. Very expressive too. I would enjoy reading a whole book like...
I really hope it becomes a bit that's used later on. It opens up the character of Animal beyond what we already know. That bunny cracks me up with all of his squeaking.
:search: He sounded pretty good and in good spirits too. It sounds like he's given up his puppeteering duties for a while and that he's given the official hand-off for Floyd. :sing: I believe he's only doing some on-set voice work for the Count. :batty: I hope he can do the same for the Fraggle...
Gonzo's nose curve has been fixed nicely. Still not particularly keen on the design, but I'm no longer offended by it. I recognize him. The other characters are looking pretty good. Oooh! Teeth! And that Miss Piggy is fierce! Wow! A crushed bowler cap off to Langridge for that.
Those composites are fairly crude, but thanks. I really don't like much of the Photoshopped grouping of Muppets. They remind me of those cheesy collages some teenage girls stick up on their walls except using Muppets in place of the latest dreamy boy band members.
I am satisfied that Disney...
