Yes, and the thing is, even though DSOTM is not my fave album of theirs, (I have 2 faves, released 16 years apart) even if one finds it "mellow" they can (I would hope) at least see it was unique for it's time...and of course, as far as charting stuff (hits) it still is...it's funny if people...

I'll always prefer the original for it's dark and beautifully strange vibe. That's THE Gremlins movie. It's Gremlins :) But as for Gremlins 2, while I agree that it didn't get as much attention when it was released as Gremins did when it came out, I think most people agree with you these days...

Yes, I think the Billy Idol version is one of the most "true-to-the-original" covers of all time. One could argue that songs should be changed up a bit, or don't bother covering...but I can see both sides of that discussion. It is great to change a song while still respecting the original such...

Well, we all know that, but all of us still seem to agree that they used to do it better, whether we prefer the 80's or 90's. I don't think it simply comes down to what we grew up with - today's stuff isn't so great, overall. There are exceptions, of course, I do like certain new shows...
