I may get lynched for this...but I would have loved to have seen the Village People make an appearance. They're zany and purely visual antics would have been great...and the episode could have been sponsored by the letters Y-M-C-A! Just my opinion, but you know I also would have liked to seen...
Sequels can be good when they advance a story, (Star Wars, Back to the Future, Planet of the Apes...) BUT, often times sequels are a bad idea. A few examples of movies that didn't need a sequel or multiple sequels but had them anyway:
Police Academy (liked the first 3...didn't need 4 more!)...
When my daughter was born 2 years ago, my brother got her a set of Elmo/Lola/Pancho face cloths and one piece (or "onesies") that also came with a little carrying bag with all 3 characters on it. Being half Hispanic, I thiught it was a nice gift and was glad to see some Plaza Sesamo characters...
I would have to echo everyone's sentiments here...a good special but second to "Christmas Eve..." Bert and Ernie should have talked, Kermit should have been more involved, but I will say that Charles Durning played a great santa and Harvey Firestein was HILARIOUS as the Easter Bunny. I also...
The article was from the WBZ-TV website here in Boston...it was written in 2007, and it stated that Bob Iger and the rest of the Disney heads are serious about the release and that they might commission Leonard Maltin to do an on screen introduction and epilogue for the disc. There was even talk...
I read that Disney is planning a "Song of the South" DVD and Blu ray release as early as March of next year...I hope so.
As far as my wish list for DVD's, along with "Song of the South"...ANYTHING Muppets we don't already have and Rocko's Modern Life would be my top picks.
It really is sad how many celebs have died in the last week or so. On a more personal note, my dad lost one of his best friends and MY best friend lost his father during this time also. makes me wonder what is going on?
I don't know if anyone was aware of this, but I read on The Wiggles website that the colorful childrens' music group (that my daughter has me hooked on) are coming to PBS Sprout starting August 24th.They ended their long standing relationship with Disney and are joining the ranks of Sesame...
I would hope that Sesame Workshop realizes that there are a lot of older fans that really want to see the B. E. (before Elmo) skits and songs. Perhaps a collective E-mail from all of us would show them we are serious about older material bring on this 2 disc set.
Kermit has always been my favorite, but I also always loved The Swedish Chef, Beaker, Rowlf and Animal (who doesn't?)...and I actually LOVE Sam Eagle!
As far as my least favorite...it's actually two: Wayne & Wanda, they never did much for me and thankfully their songs were always cut really short.
Oh man, that elephant has GOT to go! It reminds me of a family member...but I won't go there. (annoying voice...) I never cared for Baby Bear, Telly or Zoe either...just a bunch of hyperbolic whiny kids. I think that the newer muppets lack the depth and ability to transcend to the adult audience...
Marshall, Will and Holly...
Ah...a subject near and dear to my heart! My favorites are:
Land Of The Lost (NOT the 90's version!)
Sigmund & The Sea Monsters
Lidsville
HR Pufnstuf
Magic Mongo
and one form 1984...remember Pryor's Place? (yes, with Richard Pryor)
The only Krofft show I did...
I also very much enjoyed this special...I bought it on DVD 7 years ago. I thought the song selection was eclectic but great, I particularly enjoyed The Fugees, Jimmy Buffett (thankfully a song with Kermit!) and Kenny Loggins, who's rendition of "One Small Voice" still chokes me up. I was never a...
I first heard about this on New England Cable News yesterday morning. Very sad indeed...she will be missed. She also tended bar at the Cantina in the notorious "Star Wars Holiday Special".
