Yes, a lot of people here loved it. But Henson's preaching to the choir here. Henson Co. was hoping to grab a larger audience with this movie and at first glance it looks like the effort was rather disappointing. Plus the movie lost viewers in its second half, and that's never a good sign. Guess...
Apparently, a LOT of people are disappointed in that - given the lackluster ratings for the movie. Heck of a way to promote your product IMO. It certainly discouraged me from tuning in.
Re: Hey, I want a glow stick!
Suit yourself. The ratings were far lower than I thought they would be, given the relative lack of competition and the huge publicity blitz. I thought the current popularity of nostalgia would help the film, but I guess I was wrong. And your beliefs about NBC...
It didn't do so hot, actually, but it probably would have done far worse on a Sunday up against actual competition such as, say, an ABC/Disney Christmas movie or "The Simpsons".
Here's what Zap2it.com has to say:
"Thanks to "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," NBC won Friday night with a...
Re: Newbie alert!
Hm...I'd question "okay". Usually NBC wins every hour on Friday nights, thanks to "Providence" (which has been cancelled, BTW) and "Dateline NBC". But not last night. The Muppet movie lost out to "48 Hours" and "Hack" and barely beat a rerun of "America's Funniest Home...
Just dandy. Still not sorry I missed the interview, though. I got quite enough of the frog insulting the pig while watching that annual shillfest, the Macy's parade. And anyway got loads of shopping done.
I haven't seen him, and I don't intend to, since, like the majority of Americans this fine morning, I have far better things to do (Xmas shopping). Yet it seems he'll be on. I heard it on my local news this morning.
So don't say I never did nothing for ya. ;)
Well, that interview certainly didn't go the way the Henson Co. people intended it to. Neither did the interview at the parade, especially Al Roker's reaction to Miss Piggy.
Amazing how often that happens.... ;)
Yes, much better than the debacle at the Macy's parade this morning.
Well, as to that, and the special, I hope everyone here who plans to watch it enjoys it. It could do very well, given that nostalgia is so big right now. Me, I'll pass. Somehow, I knew I'd get disappointed again, but what...
By "fussy", I was referring to Boomie, not Piggy.
Sorry I missed Piggy's swear word. Yes, the Muppets HAVE hit a new high.
That was sarcasm, by the way.
Well, it helps not to be too fussy, I suppose. ;)
As for Eric, I've read two reviews of the special that disagree with your assessment of his performance. *shrug*
Saw it. An embarrassment. Looks like someone at Henson took the People blurb a tad too seriously. Kermit making the oh-so-funny fat jokes. Piggy came off far better because ol' Al enjoyed snuggling with her.
Whatever. *shrug*
Okay, what the heck is this "there was a spark between Piggy and me but that was 25 years ago" nonsense? This is the second time Whitmire's told this story. Whom is this supposed to entertain?
Does Whitmire do drugs?
Well I certainly don't agree with that reviewer's assessment of the Frank Oz replacement. I think the new guy's doing fine. In fact he's better than Oz has been the last few years. But that's just me.
