Does anyone remember the animated version of Jack In The Beanstalk from 1975? It was a Japanese movie, but an English version was released in America. It was also a musical with magical songs such as "No One's Happier Than I". Although the movie is based on the classic fairy tale, there are...
Yes, the song "Up and Down" was a musical skit with Cookie and Herry on the show, as well as a song on Sesame Street 1. Interesting to hear the early Herry called a "prototype". Herry did look very different early on. His nose was blue and furry like the rest of him and when he faced the...
The Burger King character has changed a few times over the years. In the very early 70's, he was a short, stout cartoon character with no beard or mustache. He'd appear on animated commercials and promotional items. Later in the 70's, they got a real actor to play Burger King who looked...
If they really wanted to, they could consistently air all of those skits with the right about of editing and dubbing. But, I doubt that they'd go to all that trouble to run an old skit; it would be more likely that they'd remake it.
Well, I heard that the episode where they talked about him going to live with his Grandmother was really made before he died. We tend to think that David's character was written out because of the actor's death, but Northern Calloway actually quit the show before he died.
Not really. Northern Calloway, who played David, is dead. But as far as the show's character of David is concerned, the last we heard, he's living on his grandmother's farm.
The muppet sketches included a Kermit The Frog newsflash where he talks to Rumplestiltskin, a group of muppets cheering for the letter K, Herbert Birdsfoot and Grover with the three blocks, Kermit the Frog with Shala and Fannie, Betty Lou singing with monsters, Ernie and Bert with the phone call...
Interesting to think about how that film was made. Filming the man walking backwards on the street, while everyone else naturally goes forwards, and then simply playing it in reverse for the show.
I always liked "It's Not Easy Being Green" on the Sesame Street 1 album and I never noticed anything wrong with the singing (if that's the one you mean).
:)
I too am a big Captain Kangaroo fan. I think the only thing worse than modern Sesame Street may have been the attempt at creating an "All New Captain Kangaroo" show. Bob Keeshan wasn't the Captain and it had none of the magic of classic Captain Kangaroo.
It was a parody of the Cyrano de Bergerac story. I don't remember the muppet counterpart's exact name. Cookie actually said, "Nobody knows" when referring to how the story ends. This prompted the Cyrano characters to step out of the story and chase Cookie in the living room. He said, "You...
The idea of Cookies in moderation on Sesame Street is not completely new. In the 80's, Cookie sang "Healthy Foods" and in the 70's, he did a public service announcement about eating healthy. So, if they're promoting a "healthier" Cookie Monster in this next season, they're probably going to...
Why do birds sing so gay and lovers await the break of day?
Why do they fall in love? Why does the rain fall from up above
Why do fools fall in love? Why do they fall in love?
I like Donald Duck best in the Disney comic books with Huey, Louie, and Dewey, Uncle Scrooge, Gladstone Gander, Daisy Duck, Grandma Duck, Gyro, etc. Carl Barks and Don Rosa were among some of the great artists and writers who worked on the Duck stories.
