    Anyone remember this lost album?

That was a classic album. There was also a version of it on television. The sound track may have been the same, but they definitely omitted at least one song for the album. It's pretty funny because Ernie usually annoys Bert on his own, but this time he had the help of everyone on the street!

    Original Cast Albums

Have you ever found it interesting that the early Sesame Street albums, like Sesame Street 1 and Sesame Street 2, advertised their records as having the "Original Cast" when at that time, they were the ONLY cast? Of course, the distinction that they were making then was that it wasn't different...

Lyrics to Marty Moot Mope skit

Yeah, it was a different kind of classroom skit, since Roosevelt and his class were basically just a lead in to the story. I wasn't able to find much online about that particular skit or even on these forums. I was hoping someone knew how the lyrics to the skit went on Sesame Street, because I...

    Comic Book fans UNITE!

Don't forget about Harvey Comics. Richie Rich, Casper, Hot Stuff, Little Dot, Little Lotta, Little Audrey, Jackie Jokers, Sad Sack, etc. Unfortunately, they don't publish them anymore, but luckily the old issues are not that difficult to find.

What sketches scared you as a kid?

I can relate. That episode where Oscar got a nose put on him by the witch, that I mentioned before, actually gave me two weird nightmares. The nose on Oscar skit was fresh in my mind and it somehow triggered a dream about Oscar being turned into a tree (probably mixed in with the Sesame...

Lyrics to Marty Moot Mope skit

I'm not even sure if I'm spelling it right, but King Marty Moot Mope was more concerned about rhyming than spelling anyway. I was wondering if anyone remembered the ORIGINAL lyrics to the skit with Marty Moot Mope and Same Sound Brown from the early 70's. The reason I specifiy, "original" is...

    Your Biff And Sully Moments?

That's actual a comedy routine that goes way back. Laurel and Hardy did a similar gag in their old short subject, "Men O' War."

    "If every kid did it"

Oh yeah, that's a classic, albeit somewhat forgotten ecology song from the show. I'm not sure if it was ever used in an actual skit, but it was great on the album. Some of the Sesame Street 2 albums came with an illustrated song book that had pictures to go with the lyrics.

    The Mail-It Shop

If they really felt the repair theme was too dated, you'd think they would have changed the business to something related, like an appliance store or a manufacturing company. The Mail-It-Shop was a total career change.

Rare Ernie and Herry skit from 1970

Good classic skit. Many of the early skits with Herry involved him unintentionally frightening someone and then getting his feelings hurt when they ran away. Later on, they seemed to shift the emphasis on his being a klutz who unintentionally broke everything with his great strength...

Questions we may never know the answer

Kermit was in a few street segments. In the early 70's, Susan put him to bed on the window sill because he was sick. Kermit did a "One of These Things" skit in the street with Susan. He was in the street on "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street." He was also in the street as a reporter when Slimey...

Oscar was the first one to meet Snuffy

And yet, on the old 70's album, "Havin' Fun With Ernie and Bert", Snuffy's voice can clearly be heard as a character who participates in a party game.

    Sesame Street censorship

The word "kill" was in one of the Sesame Street dictionaries. It was defined as "To make something stop living." The example was the killing of some kind of bug.

Old Ernie, Bert and Maria street skit

Maybe that was in memory of the older skit where Ernie cut all of Bert's hair off. The gag of a bald Bert was also illustrated in an old "Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood" book.

Old Ernie, Bert and Maria street skit

There was also a similar street, albeit not as intense, where Maria mediated and argument between Ernie and Bert when they were arguing about what music to play in the street. Ernie and Bert could have used Maria around more often.

    Bacon forbidden on SS?

It seems like Sesame Street began showing less meat, particularly red meat, in later episodes. When they had the skit "Family Food", chicken and fish were emphasized as the main course. There were some semi-recent skits in the 90's that talked about Bologna, but as a whole, there seemed to...

Three questions about modern Sesame Street

Well, since I initiated this thread, I guess I should answer it as well: What do I like about modern Sesame Street? If I had to say something good about the current show, I guess it's that they have not completely abandoned old characters and old skits. What would I do to make the...

Why is Sesame Street slowly dying?

Actually, the very early episodes of Sesame Street seemed to copy a bit off of the classic show, Captain Kangaroo. Mr. Hooper was an inventor like Mr. Green Jeans. And like on Captain Kangaroo, they'd bring in live animals and storybooks were read out loud with close-ups of the pictures. Of...
