Do you feel bad for liking Sesame Street?

Very wise words: "You can't reason someone out of something that they didn't reason themselves into in the first place." ;) And also, sometimes people don't agree. It's not the end of the world as long as everyone is respectful.

Why are Elmo, Zoe, Rosita and Baby Bear so annoying to classic SS fans?

My view is, perhaps they are appropriate for the age group, but Sesame Street should also challenge kids with things outside of their knowledge and safety bubble, so they can learn more or recall things later in life.

Exactly, celebrities should be humble in their cameos, not showcased like they're a bigger deal than the stars.

Your Thoughts: Fraggle Rock Complete Series Collection

I'm so glad you're enjoying the set and all the disks seem to work! I am also surprised that I missed so many episodes back in the end! Including the Mudbunny episode, so beautiful and moving. :)

Question about Recasting Sweetums in the 1980s...

I mean perhaps Richard would have stopped performing the puppet anyway, it probably was very strenuous and full-figured characters weren't his main skill in the group (though obviously he did do a great job with Sweetums hehe).

Very good point, teens and 20 year olds nowadays also have drinking problems that aren't being taken seriously, because drinking is acceptable in the culture.

    Kids Recognizing Muppets

It's true, a succession of projects that didn't get off the ground or didn't make the box office can do damage. If the movie they're trying to make now is good, that would obviously be a must needed step in the right direction. And I agree that the problem wasn't in the '80s; as DrTooth said...

Why are Elmo, Zoe, Rosita and Baby Bear so annoying to classic SS fans?

I do think they are written very one-dimensionally compared to the older characters. They are cute, happy and eager to learn, period. Even one of Sesame Street's producers said in an interview, "We'd probably never create a character like Oscar today." Well, that's a shame and a loss for the...

Oh mine too, that's why I'm going to go through a variety of sources. Movies are just so expensive right now, I want to do some homework first. ;)

You might be an obsessed Muppet fan if...

I took French in High School and one time I was watching Labyrinth and heard Hoggle say an oubliette was "a place to put people to forget about them." That suddenly made sense to me because "oublier" in French means "to forget." ;)

I do want to see it in a theater; I would only refuse to go if the initial reviews (a mixture of professional, Internet and on here of course hehe) were universally bad, hehe.

    Kids Recognizing Muppets

It is probably true that Muppet Babies was the main Muppet outlet for a long time. Though I think a lot of kids saw both Muppet Babies and the original movies together. And Nickelodeon showing The Muppet Show in the early '90s was huge exposure for kids of that era. This could be analyzed and...

    Kids Recognizing Muppets

I agree, I'm hopeful about the '80s children generation having families in the future. There were SO MANY wonderful kids shows at that time and still a lot of interest around them. (Now if they would only put Muppet Babies on DVD! ;) )
