Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Yes, that is true- I forgot about that.
It would've been nice to see him back in the '70s and early '80s in character as Superman though. But yes- he was on Sesame Street as himself and that's way cool. (In a neat alphabet segment with Ernie:p if I recall correctly).
Has Patrick Stewart been...
Hmm- I've seen some of these floating around- I guess eventually someone would do some Muppet songs. I didn't think it was quite laugh out loud funny, but amusing nonetheless.:)
Well, that's true. I kinda figured it would be one of those things where the parents would get the reference and they could still teach kids things from the books through the rest of the lyrics.
For instance, My Antonia could teach kids a bit of history about the pioneer days in America...
Awesome! It was great seeing some Muppet monster action going on! And Statler and Waldorf, the penguins and chickens and Bunsen and Beaker are always great to see too. I loved the F14 button- and the Caps Lock button. Ha ha.:confused::eek:
Sorry- just had to point this out. Are you sure you didn't mean Fozzie as Linus and Piggy as Lucy? LOL!:p
Hmm- I don't know as much about this one (haven't really read the comic or seen the movie- won't bother with the movie, but may try to read the comic sometime- Time Magazine actually...
How about some literary parodies?
Muh-muh-muh-muh-muh-muh-muh My Antonia!
(Willa Cather's) My Antonia!
["My Sharona" by The Knack]
Burn, baby, burn- Dante's Inferno!
["Disco Inferno" by The Trammps]
Lord of the Rings
(ala "Lord of the Dance" by Michael Flatley)
:zany::sing::D
Hmm- there's a number of folks I wouldn't mind seeing on Sesame Street...
Would've been cool to see C.S. Lewis for one- but he died back on November 22, 1963 (same day as Aldous Huxley and John F. Kennedy, incidentally)
[Though it'd still be neat to see a sketch inspired by The Chronicles of...
You're an obsessed Muppets fan if you celebrate Independence Day with a marathon of Sam the American Eagle's best speeches.:attitude:
You have tried to look up the actual location of Sesame Street as you assume it's a real street in New York.:wisdom:
You think Mr. Snuffleupagus is the last...
If you randomly respond to people with Muppet phrases that fit the situation even though they have no clue what you're talking about.
(Been there, done that. lol):)
"I brought the paper towels." :D (totally used this classic Lew Zealand line in an email recently though I knew my friend would...
There's also a much later episode of Sesame Street, somewhere from the mid-to-late '90s I think, that makes a mention of Rowlf as a piano-playing dog that Bob knows. I thought that was really cool.
And speaking of characters from The Muppet Show being on Sesame Street, I still would love to...
I do believe I've heard of that song by The Oak Ridge Boys- "Thank God for Kids"- it's a nice song. I see no reason why they couldn't sing that on Sesame Street. After all, Fozzie Bear sang "America the Beautiful" (including the line- "God shed His grace on thee") in "The Muppet Movie". And in...
That would be great- donate the Fraggle Rock DVD sets to your local library- so us poor people that can't afford to buy them all can get them from the library.:D:coy::wisdom:
WOW! This is so cool! The most I'd seen of Little Muppet Monsters previously was the intro, so it's really AWESOME to finally see the first episode! It'd be great if this (and Muppet Babies, for that matter) ever got released on DVD. It seems like it'd be great to have the whole thing...
Regarding the use of the name Easter for the day of Jesus' Resurrection from the dead- (pulled this from
http://www.religioustolerance.org/easter1.htm - a site about religions but not necessarily aligned with any particular one- so it's fairly unbiased)
An alternative explanation has been...
It's a cute Easter banner-the Muppet Babies are always cute-
But I'd love to see a cross in the background with the empty tomb next to it to reflect the real meaning of Easter- the redemption of the world through Jesus' death and resurrection.:)
Wow! That was great! I remember these episodes (about Gabi's birth) back from when they first aired in 1989! That was so cool watching this one again. And as always, there were lots of great segments on there that I had forgotten about, but remembered instantly with fondness as soon as I saw...
I'm pretty positive that was Sonny Friendly.
The only sketch I remember Pat Playjacks (and Vanna Blank) in was the "Squeal of Fortune" sketch with The Count and Prairie Dawn- I remember seeing that one quite a few times as a kid and loving it!:super: :)
