    May 16th: Remembering Jim Henson

I don't know of any tributes, but I always make a point of wearing my Muppet clothes on that day and on Sept. 24th. I guess that's a personal tribute. It's strange what an effect that date has on me, when no one around me gives it a second thought. He's still missed very, very much. :cry:/ :)

Trade for Jim Henson Hour episodes

I would trade anything for Jim-- oh, I thought you meant the person. Sorry

    What's Your Pirate Name?

Mad Roger Kidd Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr! BTW, have any of you tried giving a big, deep...

    Puppetry Companies

Actually, I found it kinda humorous. :smirk: Anyway, the title of this thread was about puppetry companies. I don't really have a "company" at the moment -- I refer to it as a puppetry "troupe" because it's comprised of some friends at college and I don't know how dedicated they're willing...

    A Very "Froggy" Lunch

What a butthead. Why would you kill a poor frog like that?

    Bear Town

Wow! Thanks for posting the stills. That did a lot to satisfy my curiousity. Tumbles looks amazing!!! He looks a lot better now that I can see him to scale with some other puppets (not to mention with fur, eyes, and a mouth). It's looking good! I'm rootin' for ya!

    Still missing Jim...

Yeah, it makes me well up with tears to think that Jim isn't with us anymore. I hate the fact that I've never really been able to cry over a person's death though. Maybe it effects me more than tears, or maybe I just think about things to much and don't give my emotions a chance. I feel...

Velcro; what fabric will it attach to?

If you'd rather use a more sturdy method for attaching facial features, I'd suggest using wing nuts and washers and bolts (oh my!). It just frees you up a bit when puppeteering to do more with the puppet without having to worry about the velco coming undone.

Favorite non-Henson puppet shows growing up

I remember growing up with a local show on Q13 FOX that had ranger host and a puppet co-host -- Roscoe Raccoon. I got to go to a McDonalds once where they showed up for some sponsoring that little kids are so succeptable to and I think meeting the puppet in person and seeing the puppeteer...

    Water Puppetry

Has anyone ever heard of water puppetry? It's a type of puppetry unique to the Vietnamese and has its roots in the flooding of rice fields (Get it? Roots? Rice? 'Scuse the pun). Anyway, here's a link with some pics: http://www.vietscape.com/travel/hanoi/puppet.html Do a Google search...

Spinney to speak at Villanova University

Those ungrateful pissants! Is that all the thanks Carroll gets for most likely being those students' first teacher?! You'd think after 16 years of school they'd have learned to understand what this signifies. But maybe they're all engineering majors and have a difficult time appreciating...

    Checkers

They probably need to be pretty heavy, right? I was going to suggest some thick foam or styrofoam, but those are probably too light for what you're looking for.

    Where to go

From the research I've done when looking for a college my advice is to go somewhere with good theater/acting classes and apply what you learn there to your hand. I'm attempting to minor in thatm while getting a visual art major that I can use toward film. I think of puppetry as a mixture of...

    Custom Puppets for DVD project...

Hi, I've done some work in this area for a children's video production for a church. My website has a few examples of some of my personal animal puppets, but I can make human representations as well, as shown in the latter link. scarylarrywolf.tripod.com...

    Bear Town

Ahh... that makes sense, especially now that I notice that the time said 6:30 AM when it was in fact 3 in the afternoon. I came home from school for the weekend and our family computer here is screwed up a bit. Sorry for the mistake, but thanks for the info!
