The Colbert Report - Roosevelt Franklin is the Greatest American "Roosevelt"

That's hillarious. I'm so sorry I missed this. Please tell me that somebody out there has a video of the whole show. I will trade for it!

    SST 40th Anniversary Event

Wow! What an awesome event. I wish it were closer to me! But it definitely sounds like a good excuse to visit. I'll have to check if I can get the time off to make it over there. Does anybody know if they will allow photos or videotaping at the event? I'll try to contact them tomorrow to...

    Alistair Cookie Monster

Wow! Thanks for the info and the link.

    Alistair Cookie Monster

There have been a few plush Cookie Monster dolls made, but no Alistair Cookie dolls have been made that I know of. Your best bet may be to buy a regular Cookie Monster and then add the accessories yourself. :) You would just need to make a shirt and robe for him and (if you like) a toy pipe...

There's a Hole In the Bucket, Dear Liza

Way cool! I remember this one as well & I look forward to seeing it again.

    bruno the trash man questions

Sounds like a cool costume idea! I wish I had a good picture of the logo. I know that Bruno appears briefly at the end of "Follow that Bird," but I'm not sure if the logo is visible or not (haven't seen it in a long time!). Anybody remember?

    Deadly Nightshade on the show?

Hi- Yes, they were on the show, both in "street scene" footage and in the "Old MacDonald" film. That was in the late 1970s, but they did show some of the clips into the early 1980s. Courtesy of sawing14s, here is "Keep on the Sunny Side", which was also available on one of their old albums...

    R.I.P. Bill "Snoopy" Melendez

Argh! Very sorry to hear that. His skills helped bring the "Peanuts" gang to life. He'll be missed. I know that there have been a few Peanuts TV cartoons made since the death of Charles Schulz, but now with Bill gone, I'm wondering if there will be any more made.

    Save Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

I'd love to see some older Mr. Rogers episodes repeated as well. Some collectors refer to them as the "pre-79" episodes. The repeats you see on the air today were made from 1979 to Fred's retirement. Mr. Rogers made several more shows before that era, but they have not been rerun for the past...

    Save Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

I've lost the daily episodes of Mr. Rogers as well, I'm sorry to say. I think they will be doing the weekend showings, but it's obviously not quite the same.

    Save Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

I also knew him (briefly) through the mail! I sent a letter asking for an autograph after I heard that he would be retiring from the show. He sent me his autograph - It's one of my treasures. He did indeed seem very kind and I'm thankful I got a chance to thank him via the mail.

    Save Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

I agree that there are still some fun kids' shows on PBS. In fact, even the current Elmo-heavy "Sesame Street" is fun to watch from time to time. (I haven't seen much of Word Girl, but I did like the show I saw! Sort of like Rocky & Bullwinkle crossed with the Powerpuff girls!) Even with Mr...

    College no more........

I definitely understand how you feel. Although I'm lucky enough to be working in a field that at least "sort of" matches my degree, it wasn't always like that. I had to do a few jobs that were "beneath" my level of learning before I finally found one that I (usually) enjoy. It may sound...

    Save Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

Hi all- I know some of us are Mr. Rogers fans, so I wanted to pass this on. I've done a posting on my blog reffering to all this, but here's an excerpt: =========================== Okay everybody, I want you to get out your local TV listings and check and see if “Mister Rogers’...

Anybody remember the old Ernie ragdolls? Knickerbocker?

Your parents must have gone to the same stores as mine, Rugby. :) Yes, they did make a Bert as well as an Ernie. They had their faces "painted" on, right? I recall having both of them at one time, but unfortunately they also are gone by now.

Did anybody here ever have that cardboard Sesame Street building from the mid 70's?

Wow! Yes, we did have those buildings. There were actually two of them made- One was of the Hooper's Store building, and another was of 123. My brother and I did a "Sesame St. puppet show" home movie using those buildings. This would have been about 1978-1979 or so. Both buildings are obviously...

    Classic Sesame Clips on YouTube

Looks very cool- It's interesting that they've decided to show some clips on YouTube as well as on their own site. I suppose that anyone who likes the clips would also try to visit the official Sesame video site as well. Also, notice that in the "similar videos" section of the page, many of...

Maria's trip to Puerto Rico: the other episodes?

I don't have the episodes, but I'll share what I can remember about them. There was actually an hour-long PBS special featuring many scenes from the series. It aired later in the evening a few days before the season began. It included most of what you see in 1316. The series was about a...

Will the first entire season of Sesame Street ever be available?

I tend to agree- it would also be a pretty large collection. Even if they somehow got ten episodes on each disk, that's still about 13 disks! But perhaps in the future, putting all those episodes together will not be quite as big a job (or as expensive) as it would be today, and maybe then we...

The Boy, The Girl and the Jellybeans

Hi- I just wanted to confirm that this 3-part sketch really was shown. I don't have it, but I remember seeing it. The last time I saw it would probably have been in the late 1970s or very early 1980s. The girl actually looked more like Betty Lou than Prairie Dawn. I believe Jim Henson played the...
