The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

John Lasseter did everything in his power to stop G&J, but it made a decent amount at the box office due to having no competition. Looks like this would be no different, unfortunately.

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

I filed my taxes for the first time yesterday, going the Ned Flanders route by doing it ahead of time (online, of course) to beat the long lines at the post office. I'm expecting a hefty refund, which could go toward a new laptop! :)

    Happy Birthday Martin P. Robinson!

Happy birthday to the guy who really helped develop two characters into how we know them best: from a nightmare-inducing sad sack woolly mammoth-like creature to a more well-rounded emotive type, and a TV junkie to a melodramatic triangle-loving worrywart. :)

    R.I.P. David Ogden Stiers

He also played a Russian mob boss in Jungle 2 Jungle, amusingly using the same voice he would eventually use for Jumba in Lilo & Stitch. So now I can't help but imagine Jumba cutting off people's fingers as a form of punishment. :)

Golden Globes - What's the Point?

Congratulations to Guillermo del Toro for Best Director and Best Picture Oscar for The Shape of Water! And no, that wasn't a mistake! :) Coco took home the Best Animated Feature, no surprise there, and "Remember Me" from the same movie won for Best Original Song. The Lopez's acceptance speech...

    Questions about anything

Though I'd say Disney's DulloDinosaur may have put an end to that craze, and watching the film it's easy to see why. :P

    R.I.P. David Ogden Stiers

Dang. And I just re-watched Lilo & Stitch, too. And let's not forget, he was the voice for Pops' dad in Regular Show.

Behold... the New Teen Titans Cartoon...

And now we have Beast Boy meeting and befriending a Rule 63 version of herself voiced by Cree Summer, which had some genuinely heartwarming moments. Madame Rouge from the original series was even the villain of the day. :) Later on, the Opposite Gender Titans (whom Beast Girl is a member of)...

Happy 35th Anniversary to Fraggle Rock!

I feel like Fraggle Rock is Jim Henson's magnum opus. You've got a blend of hand-operated Muppets, full-bodied Muppets, tiny radio-controlled Muppets, and humans all learning about how important they are to one another, even if they don't know it, along with some pretty groundbreaking techniques...

New Muppet series in development for Disney's 2019 streaming service

Also, a Monsters Inc. series sounds interesting. As long as they don't actually go through with full ideas from the DTV sequel that was going to get made after Pixar almost split ways and before Disney bought them, that would be neat. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command was an awesome show, so that...

New Muppet series in development for Disney's 2019 streaming service

Great to see that Disney is still doing stuff with The Muppets, and also isn't just having them star in preschool stuff. We'll have to wait and see if this new show will continue the muppets. or if it will be a clean slate. I'm hoping more of the former myself.

You Ever Notice...and What's the Deal...

Because "sax" is just one letter away from "sex". Same goes for "jazz" being one letter away from a certain bodily function I can't say here, and yet is an actual music genre in the Star Wars universe. :D

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

Amazing how Black Panther has the 2nd largest opening in America, after The Avengers, of course. What's not amazing is Early Man's 7th place finish, which not even Laika's films do that poorly. :sigh: And not even the controversy surrounding Peter Rabbit's blackberry allergy scene and its...

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Thread

Casey's backstory was that of a one-note parody of vigilantes in the Mirage comics rather than the vengeful crime fighter we would know him better for, and that pretty much carried over into the Fred Wolf series (parts of it seem to inspire his Nickelodeon incarnation, too). As for his...

    Questions about anything

Another thing I've noticed about The Boss Baby is that it appears to be set no later than the '90s. There wasn't a single smartphone I remember seeing in there, let alone a flip-up cell phone. Coco was the same way, the most modern things being the emo skeleton at the talent competition and the...

    Questions about anything

I did notice that TBB didn't have quite the level of detail as Trolls, though not to the level of a TV show, which makes me greatly doubt that it was made under a $125 million budget (according to Wikipedia). Though I do like the style of Captain Underpants, directly translating the book's look...
