I guess it was indeed intended to be another scam by Lefty, since he laughs mischievously after Ernie gives him a nickel for the picture. So probably Lefty was just counting on Ernie being feeble minded enough to not notice the elephants, whereas most people and muppets would be able to.

Well for number 4 that's just it. I would rather plan to spend a week off at home and relax and not have to do any traveling or driving ,then to plan to spend a week in Florida or something. But if I had more generous amounts of vacation during the year I could do both. But with just 2 weeks...

And now several months later I think it's very impressive that The Muppet Show season one is currently ranked # 32 on amazon's list. When you consider that a lot of new tv show dvds are ranked in the hundreds or even thousands, for TMS to be at 32 now is really remarkable and gratifying. :)
