That would be nice, but I simply must, must, must have Alvin and The Chipmunks on DVD.

Another episode that Warner Brothers removed has resurfaced on YouTube, but you can tell it was previously downloaded off YouTube in the first place, because the quality is very poor, and somewhat pixely.
Cool! For now.:smirk:

Meanwhile, rumors keep resurfacing about a complete series set of The Alvin Show being released.

Whatever the reason they don't release it, I just don't see why they can't. Unlike the other shows, there isn't too much of a copyrighted music problem. I mean, most of the songs they did were either originals, or public domain. there could be the exception of one or two songs that may have a copyright. i don't know. But Honestly, i'd rather see those than these 3 episode Chipmunks disks.

Yeah, because Ross Sr. did most of the music on The Alvin Show anyway, after all, he was a professional singer/song-writer prior to creating The Chipmunks (ala "Come On-A My House" and "The Witch Doctor").

Plus, he was clearly smart enough to avoid copyright tangle ups with music. Sort of like how the Second Season of Captain N (for example) used parody sound-a-likes... some were so close, they could have been sued for them. If anyone bought that box set, you'll notice all the musical montages from the first season were redubbed.

Kind of like some of the parodies on Sesame Street.

]But you have to admit that part of The Chipmunks survival over the years has been because of staying with the Current trends in music at the time. :smirk:

Plus, the muppets have managed to cover some popular songs themselves from time to time.

Look at The Muppet Show!

Yeah, I know, but they don't rely on them and not nearly as much as the chipmunks to stay alive. The Chipmunks can always make a com back with every new generation as long as they follow current trends. The Muppets, not so much.

Of course it was. I mean, frankly, I'll listen to Chipmunks version of music I wouldn't want to hear the original of. That is their appeal, which goes far beyond "they're singing with funny voices."

Of course, said music owners still expect to be paid, long after the decision was made to let the munks use them.

I'm curious as how they got away with keeping "I Love Rock and Roll" on "Bigger!" on DVD?
