Very sad how due to a few vocal groups Janice' perhaps only speaking role in the film was cut.

>>>Modernizing the characters should be done with caution. I really don't care to see a grunge Floyd or a Zoot with a nose ring. That would only make them seem dated when the movie is watched 5-10 years from now.<<<

Oh, I dont think theyd give them a 'grunge' makeover...as that in of itself is ten years obsolete.

>>>Keep in mind that Muppet fans have never stopped complaining since Piggy changed from her classic look in the late 70s/early 80s. It doesn't matter to fans that she's more fashionable now--she doesn't look like Piggy to us! I feel the same thing would happen with the Mayhem.<<<

Judging from the recent Muppetisms and Dennys commercials, I think Piggy looks better than ever. She looked rather grotesque in a lot of the late 70's(ie: See Frawleye test era Piggy)

Look at the Peanuts characters. They maintained the same type of clothing that was common to kids in the '50s right up to the end of its run in 2000. Look at Donald Duck--he wears a type of sailor's outfit that the Navy hasn't used for decades! Puppets and cartoon characters can get away with more, in terms of keeping the same wardrobe, because people so heavily associate them with it. (For that matter, most cartoon characters never seem to bother to change their clothes at all!) ;-)<<<

Yes, but thats the different between the Muppets and animated cartoons. You cant go to a convention or a set and 'meet' Mickeyt, Donald or Charlie Brown(unless its some teenaged kid in a giant suit)

>>>I always liked 80s fashion and hope it'll be returning soon . . . but yes, the characters should not wear something that looks dated rather than classic or contemporary.<<<

rolled up sleeves, broad shouldered business suit jackets, skinny ties, mesh football jereseys, olivia newton john styled leg warmers and sweats, cutoff ac/dc shirts, etc? As much as people our age romaticize the glorious 80's, there was quite a few blistering painful fashion faux paus.

Yeah, I couldn't think of the right word for it. I so couldn't care less what the current fashion trend is, I didn't even know what to call it.

<<Judging from the recent Muppetisms and Dennys commercials, I think Piggy looks better than ever. She looked rather grotesque in a lot of the late 70's(ie: See Frawleye test era Piggy)>>

Well, you're one of the few who feel that way (though you're certainly entitled to that opinion). Actually, I don't have strong feelings on the subject either way. I just thought it was ironic that who people who decried changes to Piggy's appearance seemed to be advocating a wholesale revamping of the Mayhem. (Apparently I misunderstood what people were saying, though.)

<<Yes, but thats the different between the Muppets and animated cartoons. You cant go to a convention or a set and 'meet' Mickeyt, Donald or Charlie Brown(unless its some teenaged kid in a giant suit)>>

I disagree. I think in general, people tend to look at cartoons, puppets, clay characters, CGI characters, etc. pretty much the same way. I have yet to have one person say to me, "Man, I like the Muppets, but when's that Floyd gonna get a new outfit?" (I'm talking about average people, of course, not the wonderfully obssessive group of people here that I'm proud to be a part of.)

Well, every decade has its fashion faux paus. I'm not saying the Flock of Seagulls haircut should come back or anything. But I prefer most of the fashions of the 80's (when guys looked like Micheal J. Fox and girls looked like Cyndi Lauper) to the fashions of the 90's (when guys looked like Kurt Kobain and girls looked like Alanis Morisette).

I'm painting in broad strokes here, folks. I know that isn't a 100% accurate picture of things. And I'm not down on anyone who likes those looks. As a child of the 80's, I just felt the need to defend my beloved decade. Thanks for your comments, Cory!

Ahhh. You got Cyndi in there didn't you? LOL! Actually, I think she provides the perfect solution. She doesn't look exactly like she did in the 80s but still very much in the same spirit. Slightly more modern version of her classic look.

I just love that magazine pic of her during her pregnancy a few years back. She was walking out of a guitar case with purple hair,. a stroller and a big disco ball painted on her exposed very pregnant stomach. I guess moms want to have fun too!

Hi guys, i just heard earlier this night on that fox news Factor show about snoop being cut from the muppet movie, there was a little talk about it, nothing really about the muppets but just that snoop was cut and on reasons why.

i didn't see thay photo off snoop and janice and floyd untill today! that's sooo cool! i completly understand the reason for the cut, in which i hope it's not 30 min, but i actualy feelbad, mean i don't like snoop or anything, and i really didn't like the fact that he was going to be in the movie, i just it's about how he was excited about doing the shot and about his kids and stuff, plus new EM and other fottage they we may never see, i doubt it was be on the dvd or video release, i kinda have this feeling this movie won't even come to DVD or video, it's just a feeling thought, it's a bad one then...;-)

everyone lets sing a song!

"why are there so many muppet christmas specails with cuts in them, and will they ever be complete?" LOL!

hey did you know kermit made a cameo on Jepordey tonight?!?!small one, not live, it was just for a question...answer, treasure Island....

Hey Zack,

Welcome back to the forum - you've been missed. I can understand some of the reasons behind the cut too, though as has been said, i hope the good scenes from those that were cut have been re-written and re-shot.

Rapper Cut From Film; Activist Takes Credit

Rapper Snoop Dogg has been edited out of an upcoming Muppets TV movie, and an African American activist is taking credit for the removal.

Najee Ali, head of Los Angeles-based Project Islamic Hope, said he pressured the Jim Henson Co. to take Snoop Dogg out of NBC's "A Very Merry Muppet Christmas" because of the rapper's pro-drug persona and his involvement with several pornographic video projects.

Henson executives said that the editing of Snoop Dogg's appearance had nothing to do with Ali's protest. "As commonly occurs during this stage of production, we have had to cut several scenes originally planned for the movie which did not advance its story line," the company said in a statement.

Insiders familiar with the Henson Co. acknowledged that although Snoop Dogg's footage would have been cut because the movie was running long, executives were also concerned about information they learned recently that the rapper is planning to release another triple X-rated video this fall.

Is it just me, or did anyone else think that Cyndi Lauper looked like Grungetta on Sesame Street?

It is refreshing to see some social opposition to the Muppets... even if it completely ridiculous. Nothin' wrong with a little anarchy. Fight the power, green person and glamour-pig!

As For Bill O'Reilly: someone please rid the world of this idiot who constantly spews off about rap music (which, of course, he knows nothing about) and ignores every piece of news relevant to the working class.

that kinda just seems like a cover up, i think it has to deal with everything, heres a the funny thing thought, i saw last night an ad for a "girls gone wild" video hosted by snoop dog....

i can understand the reason for the cut, i don't think henson has to hide it when it's already out, i also think there there will most likey be another EM sceen in the show so we will here janice if they have replaced her voice.

Zack)Rowlf the, no snoop in this dog, unless it's snoopy.,Dog
