I read in "Street Gang" that the Disney deal would have only permitted Jim to work two weeks out of the year on "Sesame Street", which would have been unnecessarily restrictive. It is such a major "what if" what could have been though.
I think we all would have preferred that to what happened. Frankly, he was overworked and some restrictions wouldn't have been a terrible idea, although I think he would have probably negotiated something better in the end. Disney was the one who wanted to hire him so badly. Few could withstand his charm and the deal wasn't finalized yet.

Still, as you said. It's all what ifs.
