I read in "Street Gang" that the Disney deal would have only permitted Jim to work two weeks out of the year on "Sesame Street", which would have been unnecessarily restrictive. It is such a major "what if" what could have been though.
I think we all would have preferred that to what happened. Frankly, he was overworked and some restrictions wouldn't have been a terrible idea, although I think he would have probably negotiated something better in the end. Disney was the one who wanted to hire him so badly. Few could withstand his charm and the deal wasn't finalized yet.

Still, as you said. It's all what ifs.

It’s also said in Brian Jay Jones’s book that Jim never worked two weeks a year on Sesame Street in the first place. He just put that in the deal so he’d have the freedom to do so if he chose.

Over 3 million on something that was already on streaming and was under advertised is very good.
Viewership was decent (actually above the last few episodes of The Muppets from 10 years ago!), but its performance among adults aged 18-49 is most noteworthy to me. Instead of the countless "more adult" options, it was The Muppet Show that posted the highest rating among that demographic. And this was something that was already available to view online earlier in the day. That is incredible work.

I think because adults were more interested than the kids since they have a hard time getting into the Muppets nowadays.

My thoughts? Nailed it.

It is, simply put, nothing more than a new episode of The Muppet Show. Which is all it needed to be.

Apparently, my prediction from September 2nd, 2025, which was posted on The Muppets 70 thread, came true.

Another Muppets on Muppets video popped up, and this time, it’s a Bilba-Retta (sorry, couldn’t resist) Muppet doing the talking. That, of course, would be Dr. Teeth using his rhymes and what I imagine he’d call his “vocabulariation” to answer Hilda-related questions.

If his talk of her hemming his trousers is to be believed, Hilda might not be long gone at all. If they were to reintroduce her, maybe Stephanie D’Abruzzo could take on the role.

Sorry to be the late comer, but I have to say it was awesome! I know this is just a special right now, but to be honest, this is better than The Muppets 2015 and Muppets Now! It's like the old days of The Muppet Show where modern things are not forced! Even though I'm not a Sabrina Carpenter person, she did great and including her as the guest star makes perfect sense. Thank God it's not that egotistical brute Justin Bieber. And I was surprised to see some of the Muppets that we haven't seen in a while, like Hilda, Baskerville, and of course, the triumphant return of Rizzo the Rat. And it's nice to see some characters from Muppets Tonight were included. I know people aren't fans of Matt Vogel, but seriously, people need to let go of Steve Whitmire. And I think (You people may hate me for this, but) Matt Vogel did a great job as Kermit the Frog. He's not necessarily a perfect Kermit, but I think he nailed it. Anyway, this is a great Muppet Show special....or should I say.........pilot?😉 I hope it becomes a full series, of course, based on the reviews, ratings, and trending on DisneyPlus so well, I think highly likely!

P.S. I told you guys it'll be a hit! 😛
