To answer your questions about unknown segments...

"What is Rhythm" is the old door-slamming, egg-smashing bit with a new voice-over added.
It did fit the Word on the Street lesson pretty well, but recycling clips that way still feels like a cop-out to me.

Then, the H for Ham with 25 left to go was some guy sitting at a laptop trying to write. He prints out a letter H. The "25 left" means he has to write for all 26 letters, apparently.
Sounds as if the producers have a series of clips in mind, all right: a modern sequel to the "Typewriter Guy" cartoons, but not quite as funny. :-|

But I really enjoyed the main storyline. Baby Bear upset his cake would be ruined. And Curly Bear running around, almost ruining it. And Telly smashed everything possible. This HAD to have been inspired by a writer's first hand account of a child's birthday party. Either it happened to his/her kid, or someone else's... that's something you just don't make up.
Agreed; the way Curly tried EVERYTHING to reach the cake, and the way Telly tried EVERYTHING to stop her are hard-to-fake situations. It takes someone who's actually planned the Birthday Party Gone Wrong, to write about it that well.

And The Murray segment once again was cute. Though I wonder... do they have a hundred extra Murray hands lying around? They're doing things they don't usually let a Muppet do... washing hands with real water... touching dough... they can't even let Cookie eat real cookies as it might damage the puppet. I like it. It gives it even more realism.
Since they're bringing Murray into a class full of real kids each time, having him join the class activities makes sense. And that means yes, Murray's probably got replacement hands made specifically for the school clips; Cookie Monster doesn't, since fake cookies work out cheaper in the long run.

The only complaint is that they NEED to make new skits with higher numbers. If I see those kids paint another mural, I'll SCREAM!

Absolutely; the mural films were cute for the first couple of seasons, but by now they've become deadly dull. Whoever did that rhyming "17" cartoon from last season--I hope they get hired for more high-number clips, since that was funny and memorable.

Murray and Ovejita decided to make artwork depicting each other; his was a childish-looking watercolor painting, and hers was a very realistic clay sculpture. Almost reminded me of that Global Grover sketch where Grover's donkey turns out to be the better sculptor...
Sounds really cute. I wish I would have watched it! Ah well. I guess I'll wait for the re-run.

And I feel that gives it so much more realism. It's not just a puppet... it's almost like a sentient being interacting with kids and adults, and doing what they do. And they don't cheap out and use fake props either. They are committed to get the puppet hands messy.

But yeah.. those mural segments. How lame are they? Half the kids in that skit have to be in college by now!

I agree. I think that's part of why I like the Murray Has a Little Lamb segments. It's refreshing to see Muppet characters interacting with real life people. It's one thing to see them with actors in a sound stage, and not that that is a bad thing by any means, but to see Murray and Ovejita interacting with kids in "the real world" is really charming.

Crap. I missed a new episode. My local station is still airing repeats. (Though according to the station's website, they say that the episode that begins the new season will start on October 5th. Maybe from there they'll go in order and air the ones that haven't been aired yet.) Maybe someone could put the new eps on You Tube like they did with the Max the Magician episode. Of course if that happened, Sesame Workshop might delete those anyway. But I thought I'd make that suggestion.
Well, somebody put up episode 4168! which I am Ecstatic about, but only 2/3 parts have been uploaded . But so far I am Loving it!

Very nice episode today! Loved how the Muppets in use were Fat Blue, Cookie Monster and Wolfgang! Very funny how the cloths got up and started dancing by themselves. Very funny how Big Bird and Snuffy were looking for talent an past Wolfgang up playing his glockenspiel every time! Loved seeing his reaction to them not noticing his talent and how he become more frustrated and sad every time while they kept looking for talent!

Now the new episodes are airing where I am again! They're not bad at all, though I have to admit "Murry Has a Little Lamb" does get a little tiresome, but unlike "Elmo's World" I think this will only last a few seasons like "Journey to Ernie." The rap theme is a little annoying, with those rap singers singing "Murry has a little laaaaaaaaaaamb!" It looks like that they just used a Ovejita doll for the part with her spinning on that pottery wheel, same as for during the ice-skating sequence (I wonder how many kids wondered why Ovejita turned into a doll and back again).

As far as Muppets go, it seems that they are focusing quite a bit on Telly Monster this season, IMO. He starred in the first two episodes this season. And it's good to see that they don't have a lot of Elmo-centered stories (probably to make up for the failed no-Elmo's World-experiment). Though there seem to be quite a bit of Big Bird and Elmo team-up stories lately.

Well, it's nice to see the two "stars"--the classic one in Big Bird & the modern (since 1998) one in Elmo--coexist at least.
