Yay Sesame Street!!
- for having Grungetta on the show! It's great to see her again.
Guess what? She'll also appear in a street story in the season finale.

Here's the rest of the episode guide:

Episode 4130

There's a lot of excitement on Sesame Street because Gina is adopting a baby! After a lot of planning, today is the day that Gina is flying to Guatemala to pick up her baby, Marco, and bring him home. Maria is going with Gina to help speak Spanish. Gina has been waiting for this moment and has made sure that everything is taken care of while she is away. There is a veterinarian covering for her in case any animals need help and Luis and Gordon are setting up the baby's crib, Big Bird, Elmo, Baby Bear and Rosita have noticed all of the excitement, but they don't know what it means to adopt a baby. Gina explains that there is a baby that needs love and caring for and she wants to be the person to provide those things. They all can't wait to meet the new baby and help in any way they can. The next time they see Gina, she will be a mommy and she will have a new family!

Episode 4131

Gina is coming home to Sesame Street today with her newly adopted baby Marco and everyone can't wait for them to arrive! They have all been busy gathering blankets and diapers, making mobiles, and putting together the crib. Everyone was actually so busy that they didn't even realize that Gina and Marco had finally arrived. They all want to continue helping, but what Gina and the baby really need is some rest. This doesn't stop Elmo and Big Bird from wanting to teach the baby the alphabet or stop Telly from giving the baby a triangle lovers test. Finally, all of the helpers leave and Gina has some time alone with her baby. She is extremely happy to be a mommy now and to take care of her new family. Everyone returns and Gina realizes that she is going to need all the help that she can get. She is very grateful that everyone cares so much!

Episode 4132

Snuffy and Big Bird want to play with their new friend- Marco, Gina's baby. They have brought a whole wagon full of things to play with, such as a baseball bat and glove, rollerskates, a pogo stick, and checkers. Gina tells them that the baby is still too young to play with any of those things. She suggests that they think like babies to come up with games that everyone can play together. Big Bird and Snuffy remember playing peek-a-boo, singing songs, and guessing animal sounds. They have so much fun on their playdate, but now they are ready to take naps. Snuffy and Big Bird can really think like babies, after all.

Episode 4134

Oscar and Grundgetta were going to race the Sloppy Jalopy in the Nastycar Races, but the Jalopy won't start. Maria and Luis offer to help, but Oscar insists that Grouches never need help. Grundgetta thinks that they should cooperate so they won't miss the race. Oscar finally agrees, although Maria and Luis aren't able to get the engine to start. Oscar then calls a grouch mechanic to try to fix the Jalopy, but that doesn't work either. They even try a little magic from Abby, but she turns the Jalopy into a pumpkin. They all cooperate to turn the Jalopy back to normal, but Oscar is about to give up on it starting. Just then, Gina's baby tosses his baby bottle and it hits the Jalopy. It starts to run! It's too late to make the race, but Oscar and Grundgetta win anyway. If your Jalopy never moves, you win first place. Oscar and Grundgetta take a victory drive and it's a perfect bumpy ride.

Thanks for the info buddy... Rully missed you this new year, hoping we can get together in the threads already set up for discussing the new list entries.

Saw Oscar's Dog

I saw Oscar's dog Cranky, nice dog, good to see Oscar having fun with a pet. I liked seeing Ernie do the song "I Heard My Dog Bark"

I have yet to see Gina's baby adoption series, it sounds like a good set of shows, but didn't they already do adoption with Miles?

Even if they did the adoption topic before, that was many years ago and today's kids have not seen that. Therefore, they need to bring the lesson back in a new way. However, I don't understand why Big Bird would not understand about adoption when he was there for Miles' adoption before. This would be a good opportunity to use Gordon, Susan and Miles to help teach what adoption is about. Atleast we know that Abby will be in another episode later on.

As for today's episode about Oscar's ungrouchy grouch dog...I enjoyed it. It seemed a bit short and quick, but it was cute. Good to see Grungetta again and to see Bob involved more in the street story rather than a sort of quick walk on. He was actually involved. It was great! Also, I really liked the song that Luis sang with Elmo and Zoe later on in the episode.

Well, as much as I like continuity, I understand why they'd make adoption a new concept for Big Bird. We know he already went through it, but today's kids don't know that, and it's unlikely they'll ever see that episode.

Big Bird needs to be seen as a child, the same age as the show's audience, at least mentally. Having him know too much may make him seem older. Kids need to be able to identify with him, go through the same things he's going through. So he really shouldn't get that much more experienced.

If Sesame Street was a just a movie, or a special, you could have Big Bird change and mature at the end. But Sesame Street is always running and continues to get new audiences. It's like having an imaginary friend. Imaginary friends don't usually grow older with you.

You have a point, Heralde. Though if you observe, Big Bird has definitely matured a little bit in recent years. He is still a kid, but it seems he is more the big brother on the shownow to the other Muppets on the street like Elmo, Baby Bear, Zoe and even Telly, who are a bit younger. He is usually a step ahead of the game while still having that sense of new discovery. I hope that makes sense. He is still learning, of course, but I think he has become a little more mature.

Yeah, I have observed that. It's a fine balance the character needs to achieve.

Wow, I wonder if Elmo will ever become more mature....that would be nice...I think.

The rest of the season sounds great. Not only do we get more Big Bird, but a Big Bird and Snuffy focus! Plus, we FINALLY see Abby again. I'm really looking forward to the adoption episodes. However...

Like BEAR said, why is Big Bird included in that list?! Can't he just not be there when the others are asking about it? I swear Sesame Workshop...they better at least mention Miles was adopted, or I'm going to be very mad. The current generation of kids probably doesn't even know this.

Sorry to hear some of you aren't getting new episodes anymore. That's very odd. I've been too busy with collage lately to post (and to make matters worse, I've come down with a cold), but I've really enjoyed all the new episodes, especially yesterdays. One of the best parts was that Alisha Keys (sp?) song with Elmo. I love the original song, and thought the remake was very cute.

Only thing I haven't liked was the street story involving Slimy. The story was just ok to begin with, but the acting just made it worse. Can the actress who plays Gabbi PLEASE get some acting lessons!

Only two new episodes next week on Tuesday and Wednesday. I guess they're spacing them out a bit more since we're almost at the end of the season. (That sure went by fast didn't it?)

I agree about Miles, I wish they'd mention that. They probably don't intend this, but by not mentioning some of the show's history, they are sort of implying that kids don't NEED to know it. Like, if something's old, it's unimportant (An attitude that's very prevelant in our society today, even with the Muppets).

I think that Elmo has matured a little bit since he first came about. I mean, when I see one of Elmo's early appearances, he seems much younger than he comes across now. Maybe it's more like character development than maturity. I dunno. It's happened with Baby Bear and Zoe too.
