With this whole copyright issue I'm actually amazed YouTube is even still allowed to exist at all.

But anyway Erin, I'm sure I can say I speak for us all when I say your comment speaks to all of us who admire Richard's brilliant talents as a puppeteer, and through his beloved characters we feel that we came as close as we ever could to knowing him personally. We shall remember him with all our laughter at all his Muppetry antics in our memories and on our DVDs

That's great, MN! I would like to think fan sentiments would mean just as much to Richard.

I understand copyright laws of course, they are necessary, and I would not post a video. My problem is it's just not fair that all these specials are being hidden away by the companies. If they don't want people posting them illegally (which again, I understand) then they perhaps they should consider making them more available.

Most certainly - see also: the fan letter from Chris, which led to the late-night phone call from Richard. A lot of actors would probably shrug and drop the fan letter into a box somewhere...but Richard insisted on getting Chris's contact info and calling him up to say thank you. How many big-name stars would go the extra mile for their fans like that? And as we've said many times, it must have been really thrilling for Chris to get a phone call from one of his heroes like that.

And you know, I'll bet Richard felt really flattered to see someone do a detailed academic study of one of his characters (with artwork, of course). I think it's safe to say he held on to that letter.

Yes sometimes it does pay to go that extra mile, because people will take notice. I also get the impression that Richard had a lot to do with the development of a lot of his main characters, so it probably was very gratifying to see them being taken seriously. And a lot of people probably dismissed Beaker as a nothing character because he could not be "understood."

Btw, here is the clip from The Jim Henson Hour that made me scared of the little Meeper, lol. It doesn't bother me much now, thank goodness

I've seen the clip immediately in case it disappears on me and it amazes me how you could have ever been frightened of it heralde. You must have been a very young girl at the time I take it.

Interesting that we got to hear Beaker say clearly and distinctly "Oh no."in place of his usual meepings.

Ha ha, well whatever the age, I do tend to have an unusual imagination, which has its pros and cons. And you're never too old to be afraid. Ironically, I think it was his saying "Oh no!" that actually bothered me, lol. Perhaps the shock was just too much to bear, hehe

Anyway, it would be interesting to see what Chris had written about Beaker in his fan letter. It's great that he realized Beaker was much more than a character who just said "Meep, meep." And that not just anyone could bring the character to life. Steve said he realized this when trying to take over the role. It wasn't enough to just know how to "Meep", you had to know WHO the character was.

Btw, the user MuppetDanny posted a rare Muppet clip on the "Muppets and Youtube.com" thread in the Web section. Scooter is demonstrating a machine to Floyd and Gonzo, and of course all goes terribly wrong, lol.

HIGHLIGHTS: Well it's sort of hard to tell what's going on, lol, but it looks like Scooter (and some curly headed joker underneath him) is telling someone to get back, lol. Not to mention a familiar giggle at the end of the clip!

Hmm...now what would J.P. Grosse want with a TR600 computer or whatever it was? And poor Scooter - he's saddled with guarding the "delicate piece of machinery" while Gonzo is hovering around with easily tickled sinuses.

You know something - the whole scene reminds me of a dream I had: Scooter was demonstrating some bizarre looking machine, and Richard was fully visible beneath him. (Cue the Twilight Zone theme, please...)

Went back and watched the Lily Tomlin episode of SNL season 2 again - still can't spot Richard in the crowd when everyone's doing the Antler Dance. Guess I'll have to have the pause button ready next time.

Perhaps the TR600 was yet another attempt at an odd replacement for a certain green host? Little did JP probably know that his little nephew was starting to warm up to his fellow Muppets. Scooter was probably secretly thrilled to see it go.

I liked how the puppets were kinda forced to "push" the machine around (and off the table) themselves in order to create the appropriate blowing up effect, lol.

What's cool is you don't often see Floyd, Gonzo and 'Scoots' (as Floyd once called him) in a scene together. Did you ever mention that dream in the thread, MN? Cause that does sound familiar. And yes...quite bizzare...then again, perhaps we only have the Twister board thingie to blame!

Yeah the pause button and then frame by frame is often more helpful in these situations (Heralde speaks from personal experience lol). Good luck!

Hello... Thought I'd let all of you RHLC members know... This coming week is the big Muppetcast Richard Hunt tribute. You still have some time to send your thoughts, memories, stories, or general observations. Oh, by the way - in Muppet Worlds, Craig Crane has posted a shot of the Muppet crew at the London memorial for Jim. It appears to be when they're all up in front of the altar for "Just One Person." The thread name is "Jim's Memorial in London." Go have a look - it's a nice photo.
