Yes, Kate, student politics was my beat last semester; it was unceremoniously thrown on me by our news editor at the start of term because (due to a lot of staff turnover - read: people graduating) I was the most senior-ranking reporter. Important job, but not for the faint of heart.

As for Jim's wife and Richard's mom sharing the same first name: I'll bet that made for a few amusing scenes at gatherings of Muppet performers and their families.

"Jane, I'd like you to meet Jane."
"Oh, hello, Jane, it's nice to meet you."
"Very nice to meet you too, Jane."

You're right - Richard was the one who knew himself best...but seeing as he's not here to comment on things, Mrs. Hunt now has the number-one spot.

Sure, Count, I'll take a bit of salmon with some vegs and a Coke.

Hmmm... And here I thought something from the grill would make you ill Jill. Oh, right, your name's not Jill.
*Another rat gets the dish of salmon and veggies to our table for the roving reporter of the RHLC, while a penguin brings over a Coke for her and a Sprite for me with refills of course should we need them.

Oh man! I take one day off from forum blabbing, just to get to bed early, and I miss everything!

Well let's see, I love that London memorial photo, he looks very spiffy in a suit jacket, lol. And Steve's '80s hair is radical, lol! Which memorial was done first, does anyone know?

MN, I think it's fantastic that you're getting so much experience and opportunity at school regarding journalism. I know it can be so hard and stressful, but also remember that you're very lucky to have a school and newspaper that is so active. It will be so helpful on your resume later on. And I love how you referring to people graduating as turn over, hehe.

FraggleMuppet, that's so weird how you don't even know the room numbers yet. I would be stressed out too. I'm sure you'll be fine though. Just remember everyone's dealing with the same stuff

And uh, that's it right? I haven't forgotten anything...

.......

......

......

...Ohhhh yeah, that Muppetcast thingie. Eh, I don't really care...

...Nyah, just kidding! I'm very very excited and will have to force myself to get distracted the next couple of days, otherwise I'll be agonizing about how far away Monday night is, lol. I think we at the RHLC should be proud, because I think our own interest and persistent had a lot to do with this.

Thanks for the pep talk, heralde - I routinely stress over whether or not what I've done is good enough. In some ways it's a good thing, but in other ways it's a bad thing. And it's true - last year, most of our editors were seniors, so we almost had a complete turnover on the E-board. They were going to offer me the spot of editor in chief, but I quickly turned it down - I'm awful at directing a large group of people.

Now, as for the memorials: the New York memorial was done first. The one in London was for the benefit of the British Muppet crews.

As for Richard in a suit jacket: oh, he does look swell, doesn't he?

But like I said earlier: it kinda looks as if Scooter's hovering in mid-air.

And I rather like his tie - looks as if it's got a leaf pattern on it. Guess he left the "Jim Henson shirt" at home. And I also see that Steve's decided to deep-six the Kermit-green suit as well.

I know what you mean about directing a large group of people, I also have difficulty with that. It just takes practice; the more you do it, the easier it gets. You might be ready to do it at another point.

BTW heralde I think your Scooter avatar is the best one you've ever had yet.

I bet Sara must like it because, well we all obviously know why I'm sure she would. Don't we?

Aw thanks! The photo's from Muppet Wiki, but it's from the Children's Songs and Stories with the Muppets VHS I bought for my birthday last year, where Scooter is reading his scrapbook and introducing Muppet songs.

Ah, yes - the scene with Larry the locker-room shrink and Nick the princess stalker. And judging from the look on Richard's face, he's probably thinking, "What a nut."

To this day, I'm still wondering how Richard got himself roped into doing a walk-on in that flick. I guess someone on the film crew had connections to the Muppets, and I guess Richard had the day off from SS or FR or something.

And like I said earlier, there's a little bit of irony in the film: Rob's character is feverishly chasing after the daughter of some lord. Richard, on the other hand, has actually met and mingled with the British royal family.

Well, show business is so very difficult to flourish in. You can be 40 years old and still far from your "big break." There's just so many people trying to make it. Though it's my opinion a lot of decent actors are ignored in favor of less talented movie stars, hehe.

The Muppet performers were incredibly lucky (and as Richard once said "spoiled") to find such an ongoing and enjoyable job doing something they loved. You could speculate that since many of Richard's relatives were also performers, he would have seen first hand just how ruthless the business was and that you don't let go of a great opportunity like the Muppet so easily.
