A lot of things about Don't Eat the Cookies used to freak me out (like much of SS of course!). All the creepy shots of the statues and the weighing of the heart at the end.

That's what I like about Sesame Street now, it sort of teaches you not to avoid your fears, to confront them because they may not be as bad as you think.

Well... Sort of. Actually, the crature awaiting for her healthy hearty meal is named Ammut (spelling variations exist). Ammut is a female monster that has he head of a crocodile, the body of a catamount or mountain lion, and the lower body or legs of a hippopotamus. If the heart was heavier than the feather, she was all too happy to feast upon the hapless soul cast into her den down below.

Hmm. The prof said it was a crocodile...and this is a guy who is a fanatic about Egyptian history. Oh, well, I guess the specifics vary from text to text.

Wow, the thread's one step away from being the last one on the list...Ahhhhhh!

Hehe anyway, I'll probably be posting a bit less for a few days. Turns out I've been typing a bit too much and my fingers are suffering for it!

But since I'm here for now, and I'm really happy that Muppet Musique has added "Muppets Go to the Movies." I saw it on TV years ago. It's really funny, especially when they keep plugging their "new" movie, The Great Muppet Caper. (Ever heard of that one?)

Very odd thing though. Years ago, when I first saw the special, my two favorite parts were when Floyd and Janice sang "Act Naturally" and also the following sketch involving cowboys (Richard playing one of the cows).

First because I'd suddenly noticed what a unique voice Janice had. And two because whenever I heard the cow I always thought, "Gee, that's a voice I've always associated with The Muppets!" That was way before I knew who Richard was. And it was probably about a year after he passed away. So, yes, very odd indeed! Hehe

Oh yeah, it's been quiet crazy around here recently... just not in here! But hey, makin' it crazy in here is what we're here for!

Hmm, I've never seen "Muppets Go to the Movies," but I would love to someday! It sounds totally great. And how awesome that you had associated Richard's voice with the Muppets even before you knew who he was. He certainly was a hard-to-miss type of guy, and his voice certainly did stand out in many ways! Definitely noticeable in a great way!

It really feels natural to me to here richards voice in when ever I'm whaching something with muppets in it. It's actually hare not to here him around anymore. It just seems like he should be there...like he belongs there. I get to the point where I almost expect to here him come along some time in something they are doing.

I never seen muppets go to the movies before that I know of, but for the past couple of years that I srue that I've heard about it, I've really wanted to see it.

Oh, they're showing Trading Places on Comedy Central again, it just started!

I know what you guys mean, you could always pick Richard's voice out in a group song. And it didn't matter how silly and goofy the song might be, it just ended up being fun.

I'll try to recap my memories of Muppets Go the Movies at some point, it's classic!

Yeah, an element had defently been missing whenevey the muppets sing now. He has a pitch about him that's distinguishingly spicific form every one else. The group of original muppeteer Just had a chimistry where they seemed to know eacho other so well that it was unmached. And some of the guys who came later were like were a nice addition in addition to the muppeteers already their.

I agree, Will. When I watched Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island for the first time, I just couldn't help but feel that there was really something missing, but I really couldn't put my finger on it. Didn't realize until much later that it probably had to do with Richard as much as Jim.

Just wanted to mention: while I was away, I bought a copy of the James Taylor album that had "That Lonesome Road" on it, the song that Richard and the other Hunts sang at Richard's going-away party. Amanda was right; that song is rather poignant...I wonder how Richard was feeling when he selected it.

I know just what you guys mean, it does feel like there's something missing. It just doesn't seem as complete as it did earlier on. It's kinda sad when you think about it, but I'm just glad we can look back and enjoy the time when Richard (and Jim) were there.

Oh wow Erin, "The Lonesome Road." I've still never actually heard that song, but I was able to read the lyrics to it not too long ago. And it does sound like a completely incredible song. And yes, extremely poignant, too! I have wondered how Richard was feeling when he selected it and when he was singing it, too. It's kinda sad to think about too, though.
