All I know is, while I do always eventually manage to deal with things, I spend way too much time worrying. Now sometimes worrying is a good, wise thing to do (some people don't worry enough). But you do have to learn to recognize when it's just holding you back.

I love that song The Muppets always seem to be doing, "I Whistle a Happy Tune." Or when Richard told Carroll to "pretend you can dance." Pretend you're not afraid, and you may just convince yourself!

I don't know if anyone knows about this. There was a cartoon made of The Hobbit years ago. One line in a song I've always been inspired by:

"To measure the meaning can make you delay. It's time you stopped thinking and wasting the day."

That definitely does say something about him, Erin... that he didn't let it stop him, he didn't let it keep him down. He learned how to live with it, and he learned how to deal with it as best he could. That's really admirable. And a great attitude that we could all use in different areas of all our lives at different points throughout time.
Keeping up his work with the Muppets, giving a going-away party to console everyone, and putting on a brave face while he was undergoing treatment...just Richard's way of giving the virus a good solid "Your face!"

I remember Steve's MC interview, where he said, "When I look back on it, it was about Richard having the last word, really, I think. 'This is what I want you to remember. Not what you’re going to say when I’m gone.' "

When someone dies, it's hard to think about them afterward because it just makes you feel sad. Especially if you feel like there was no closure. I'm sure Richard did not want people feeling sad when they thought about him, after spending his life trying to make people feel good. So the party was actually a very considerate thing to do.

The party was a great idea, and very like him... a very Richard-esque thing to want and to do, it seems.

I loved that too, very nicely put! It was pretty admirable of Richard to think of his friends' suffering before his own. And hey, if you can give AIDS a "your face!", other things don't seem as difficult to overcome.

Btw, MuppetNewsgirl, are there any other songs on the James Taylor CD you bought worth mentioning?

And hope you felt better today, Skye!

That is so true. I think that's pretty amazing and admirable as well. But when I first heard about that, it didn't surprise me one bit. Just seemed like him to put others before himself.

Aww, thanks guys! I have to say that yes, I am feeling better today. Honestly, parts of the day, I still felt a little off, but all in all, I'm doing much better. And William, thank you so much for that. I do know that, sweetie, and I really appreciate it so much. And I love you for letting me know that.

Very true...Richard was that rarest of people, the celebrity who put others ahead of himself. And he was the kind of guy who wouldn't let a little thing like a terminal illness stop him from doing that.

Any tunes on the JT discs worth mentioning...well, one of the CDs I brought home was the "Best Of" album; I've got it on right now. I like the usual favorites such as "You've Got a Friend," "Shower the People" and "Fire and Rain," and all that. The other CD is called "Dad Loves His Work" and it's got "That Lonesome Road" on it (and I admit that I haven't listened to the whole thing yet). I think the best ones are "Her Town, Too," "London Town" and, well, "That Lonesome Road."

I hope you feel better soon, Carrie!

I really love that about the muppeteers, too. I love how giving of themselves thay are and how much they can see beyond there celebrity. (Not that too many people reay know who they are, anyway, LOL!). But nobody diplayed a better example of this then Richard did.

I wan't to thank you girls for being so concerned about my dear Caroline, but I think she is doing much better now and I hope she is doing beter now. You are truly...trure friends to her. Thank you for that. That means a lot to me and I'm sure it means a lot to her too! Thanks!!!

Hehe, it is true... not a whole lotta people know who they are. It's funny, when Erin said celebrity, it kinda surprised me because when I think about how Richard was, I don't really think of him as a celebrity because of how caring he was and how he put others before himself so often. And I know that might sound kinda weird because I'm sure there are many other celebrities who do that as well, but... I don't know, I guess I'm talking about my thoughts right now and just kinda blabbing, lol! But I think you guys understand what I mean, too. That's just randomly what I thought about.

Aww, William's so sweet. And yes, I do want to thank y'all for being concerned about me! I know we all stick together here, but I do appreciate it lots! I am doing better, and I'm feeling even better as time goes along. Thanks for being such awesome friends, ladies! And thank you for being such a wonderful man to me, William!
