like I said several posts ago, my favorite's the close-up of Scooter, Gobo and Wembley. For me, it's just really cool to see Scooter up there with two of the Fraggles.
I've always suspected that the gopher was at least part Fraggle! Lol, but seriously I do think it's cool to see the two so different Muppet worlds side by side like that.
Gone are the days when Scooter would cite his uncle's connections. By Muppetvision 3-D, it would have been, "J.P. who?"
Aw that is so sweet, lol. The way I see it, I think Scooter was always an admirer of the Frog, but he knew he wouldn't be let in the group so easily, being so young and inexperienced. So he really laid the Uncle connection on thick and let Kermit think he wasn't TOO eager to follow in his footsteps, when in reality he was. Which served to drive Kermit completely insane, which I get the feeling Scooter enjoyed too, hehe. That's how I see it anyway.
I thought of another Scooter moment I like, that's probably not noticed very much because it's not the focus of the scene. Just something you'd notice if you're paying attention. In MTM, after Kermit regains his memory (after getting thrown across the room by Piggy) and everyone crowds around him. If you watch Scooter while everyone's talking, he exclaims, "You
do remember us!" And in the record/book version (again, if you listening carefully), Scooter says, "Oh Kermit, I
knew you'd come back!"
Though interestingly, Scooter is the first one in the MTM to make the tough, unpopular decisions. He knows it's time for the gang to split up at the beginning, even though it's hard for everyoe and gets a bad reaction. Later on, when the gang can't get Kermit to remember them, everyone's so upset and desperate, and Scooter takes on the tough and thankless task of saying, "There's nothing left do, we're gonna have to go on without him!" He doesn't want that to happen of course, but he's trying to do what's best for the group in a practical sense, which demonstrates the different sides of his character. Thankfully, Kermit does come back and allows the gopher to be his cheerful self again.
Oh and while we're on the subject of little moments in MTM; when they first find Kermit and discover he has Amnesia, Janice anxiously asks, "You don't know us?" and Kermit replies, "Well I'm afraid not...uh...should I?" The scene goes on of course but if you keep watching Janice, she's just devasted.
I swear more than another other Muppet movie, MTM is such an emotional heartache fest, lol. You'll really start tearing up if you're not careful!
