Yeah, you'll like the bit of dialogue between two angels known as "King Henry" and "Rocky Top."

It's always something, eh, Sara? Oh, well, there's worse stuff than that - hope the wrist heals soon.

Now, on the subject of our favorite Muppet performer's Richard-ness...well, for Richard, half of it was genetic, I'd say, and the other half was all his own. From his parents he got his DNA, sense of humor and name - especially in that he shares a first name with his dad.
The rest of it, that certain not-quite-undescribable something he gave to the Muppets, that came from him alone.

Yeah I had to ease up on a job once because of a sore arm, it does help anyway.

I think I loved MTM because it was so emotional, though at times hard to watch. And the way they used the soundtrack to express the emotion. At the beginning we see the sang happily singing "Together Again" and then all throughout the film, everytime Kermit thinks about his friends, the instrumental of the number plays, sometimes sad (like when he's reading their letters) and other times hopeful (like when he regains his memory). Now that I think about it, I even recall that my favorite letter was Scooter's bad in the day. "Have you sold the show yet? Have you heard from the gang?" That was like engraved in my mind, lol.

Oh and personally I loved it when they got married. Though I'm a big fan of perfect happy endings, hehe.

Yay, I got to go see Bob McGrath today! He was very charming and friendly, all his songs were lovely. The little kids were singing and dancing, they were so excited to be there. At the end he sang "Keep Christmas with You", asking the kids "to really pay attention to the words." That song has always been important to me, it represents my era of Sesame Street. Tears actually started streaming down my face. I didn't plan it, it just happened. I don't think I've ever been moved in quite that way.

He then led a sing along to "Sing", which everyone joined in on. He mentioned that it was written by Joe Raposo.

Afterwards everyone got in line to get their CD signed. When it was my turn (Eeeee!), I thanked Bob for singing "Keep Christmas" and said it was one of my favorite songs. He pointed out that it was on his new CD, and I said I'd already heard a few tracks. He asked where and I explained about Muppet Central. He was very intrigued that his album was being heard here and said he might check it out sometime.

I had decided to bring my old record of "Sesame Street Christmas Sing-Along" with me and got up the nerve to ask Bob to sign it. The people behind me thought it was just adorable, lol. Bob was happy too, he said, "We used to have such a good time recording these!" I was thrilled because I used to listen to this album every Christmas when I was younger. :flirt:

I also said I owned Christmas Eve on Sesame Street on DVD, and he called the special "one of the best projects we ever did."

Finally he announced that Sesame Street was going into its 39th Season (everyone gasped lol). He said, "So I guess it's kind of a permanent job!"

Overall, Bob was warm and funny and so friendly. I'm so grateful I got to meet him and that he was kind enough to sign my album.

Oh and how could I forget! One of the songs he sang was called (I swear) "Your Face"! Hehehehe

Sounds like it was a lot of fun, heralde, thanks for sharing - and a song called "Your face?" Hmm...where else have we heard that one before?

I'm ready to call a break - I've spent the better part of today slaving over end-of-term projects, and my right wrist started prickling a bit this afternoon.

After studying last night, I took in The Dark Crystal - believe it or not, it was my first time seeing it. It doesn't seem as if Richard was among the performers in that one - I guess someone had to hold down the fort on SS...or maybe help oversee the first FR auditions.

Yeah sometimes it's best to take a break.

I don't believe Richard was involved with Dark Crystal, no. Probably was too busy with Sesame Street and FR. I'm sorry Mr. Henson, lol, but I couldn't get through the Dark Crystal. The puppetery and special effects were AMAZINGLY impressive. But the storyline pace was too slow, in my opinion. Labryinth was much better for me because the story was more evenly paced.

I know - I mean, the visuals are impressive, and the Chamberlain Skeksis calls to mind memories of Scred...but, yeah, compared to the Big Three shows and the Muppet movies, it's kinda slow going.

I once played the Dark Crystal computer game that Sierra made in 1982 for Apple IIe. Sierra re-released it on CD-ROM as part of the Roberta Williams Anthology some years ago, and it came with an Apple IIe emulator, and that's how I got to play it. There are several differences between the movie and the game - for example, in the game, you have to answer a riddle from Aughra before she'll give you the crystal shard.

It was a nice-looking game, nice graphics - but both Henson and Sierra moved onto bigger and better things - the Henson team to Fraggle Rock and more Muppet projects, and Sierra to the King's Quest series (of which my brother and I are big fans).

That's really interesting about the Dark Crystal computer game! I love seeing ads about those older computers with their giantic screens and floppy disks that were actually floppy! Hehe

Oh yay! Guys, it looks like all our wining and complaining and youtube-ing has paid off! The Sesame Workshop website has started posting classic videos. I just checked and there are FOUR (count 'em, FOUR) Forgetful Jones sketches! Also a number of Two Headed Monster sketches. And a number of other sketches featuring Richard's characters as well (though they take extra work to find. Like if you type in "Kermit" you'll find several sketches that Richard co-starred in).

I'm really happy about this, because now Richard's Sesame Street legacy can live on, the way his memorial said it would.

Here is the site, you just type in "Forgetful Jones":

:: dances with BeakerS:: Disco D, d d d d, Disco D! Lol, hope they include that one at some point!

This was so unexpected; if you had told me this would happen a few days ago, I would have been extremely skeptical. But first meeting Bob yesterday and now this...the world is a nice place again.

I suppose it will be slightly harder to find and get to sketches now, so I guess if any of us happen to find a good one, we'll just let the thread know.

Only thing I'm upset about. They've included the old "Excuse me Chair" sketch and the "Pink Elephant" sketch, which used to TERRIFY me! But now that I watch them again...it's even scarier than I remember! ::shivers::

Oh, congratulations on meeting Bob!
It must have been a treat--huh, I sound so silly.
OF COURSE IT WAS!

Whhheeee! Yah know you can call me Claudia, right? :stick_out_tongue:
So you don't have to type out my lengthy name.

;D

LOL!
That is hilarious!
That is a-okay...
I'll tell you what clip scared me that involved Richard...

I was afraid of the Jabberwock clip...
The one with Scooter.

OH GOSH!
THAT SCARED ME!

Oh yeah, hehe I am sometimes shy about that name thing. I'm just weird, lol. Thanks, Claudia.

I still can't believe they put up the two most scary SS clips from my childhood! After a couple of viewings, I've decided the "Pink Elephant" isn't as bad now, but I wouldn't watch it everyday. "Excuse me Chair" is even worse, I just don't like claymation sometimes! Lol Any thoughts on these sketches?

Yeah some of the creatures in the Jabberwock sketch are pretty freaky, lol.
