I'm a big fan of the Christmas specials, if I don't get to watch them, I don't feel like I've celebrated!

My favorites are Charlie Brown, the Grinch (the cartoon, not the movie), Frosty and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Oddly enough, I never saw the Rankin and Bass claymation specials until fairly recently, but they're great too. Wonderful historical documents. They're 40 years old, and still excellent! Goes to show, just because something's old doesn't mean you throw it away. And they had no problem talking about the religious meaning of Christmas.

We finally got our tree this past weekend. We got a Frasier fir this year, instead of the usual Balsam fir. Somehow it just looks fuller, and it holds the heavy ornaments better.

All I need to go now is wrap the presents. I keep putting it off, mainly so I'll have something to look forward to.

Anyone else prepared (or not as the case may be)?

I seriously love Charlie Brown Christmas, but my favorite christmas special besides MFC is Emmett Otter. Its just too great for words, I really love the Paul Williams compositions and songs.

((SHAMELESS PLUG AHEAD WARNING))

Feel free to drop by Super Scooter's "Barry Lee Thread," where we throw penguins, study history with rats, eat m&m's, and listen to music.

((Sorry for shameless plug... :frown: ))

Well, I for one loved your shameless plug, Barry!

I can't believe this, but I have to admit that I've never really seen any of these Christmas specials you guys are talking about, and I haven't seen very many Christmas movies either. I do hope to see more in future years, though!

So I just stumbled into this thread again for the heck of it and saw you guys talking about Christmas specials. Some classics listed for sure, I'm a fan of Charlie Brown, Frosty, etc. I also have always enjoyed the Garfield Christmas special. I know it's not as classic as some of the others mentioned, but it's actually very sweet if you've never seen it and has a good message at the end.

And yes, visit the Barry Lee thread, I have and it's great!

I remember that one! Is that the one where they visit Jon's parents? It's so funny and sweet. Especially when Garfield sits with the Grandmother.

Grandmother: Garfield, how did you know I needed a kitty on my lap?

Garfield: Wild guess...

My gosh I love the Garfield Chrissie special! Havn't seen it for yonks... I saw the Garfield Halloween one recently though, it was like, awesome. When Garfield and Odie go trick or treating.

(Btw, I just finished all my Chrissie cards. Last week I did like, 35 or something, for my class and I drew a Christmas symbol in all of them. I did it in one night, cause -typical me- I left 'em till the very last minute and I hadta hand them in before we knocked-off school for the year. Now 6 weeks of Chrissie hollies- JOY UNBOUNDED! :exited:

Garfield is awesome!

I just found a Shining Time Station Christmas special and I'm watching it now. It's such a nostaglic trip, especially with Ringo as Mr. Conductor. These specials really help me get into the spirit; they make you feel good and inspired to do good things.

I also got borrow Frosty and Charlie Brown from the library, hopefully I'll get to watch them this week.
