*On the sidewalk, in front of home... Heh, what a coward. Not like that Gonzo. And here I thought he looked up to him. The Gonzo I know would gladly throw himself into the street, even if there were a hundred speeding cars coming, let alone one.
Oh well... *Opens door.
Girls? Anyone home?

Certainly been a bit hectic catching up with all the news from my friends here... Might have to go back to school tomorrow, and set up some interviews for potential Teacher's Assistants.
Wonder if anyone here's ready for dinner. Just whipped up some salmon patty burgers, with some delicious mayotard of course.
Maybe I'll be able to sneak off and get an early... *Feels a tug on the bottom of my robe.
Huh? OK, which one are you? Ann? Tabby? Kelly? Jana?

Tabby: Yes!

Ann: All of us!

Kelly: We want a story!

Tabby: Tell us the one about Gonzo!

Ann: No, Rowlf!

Kelly: I thought tonight was the Christmas story!

Ann: Oh yeah!

Tabby: But I want-

Ann: The Christmas story!

Kelly: Please Daddy?

Ann: Please?

Tabby: Please?

Well, yes, that's what we agreed girls. Though I thought I read that chapter about Rowlf's family to Jana last night, since she was the only one who came in asking for story... You girls sure it's the Christmas story you want tonight?

Kelly: We listened last night, too, Daddy...

Ann: Sh!

Tabby: <Rolls around and giggles>

Ann: Sh!

Tabby: <sits up> You're right Daddy, we didn't hear a story last night. IN fact, it's been SO long since we heard a story, I think we should start over with the Gonzo story!

Kelly: No, tonight's the Christmas story!

Tabby: <Giggles>

Ann: Tabby...

Tabby: I was kidding!

Kelly: We heard the story last night, Daddy, we-

Tabby: Sh!

Kelly: ...Please read us the Christmas story?

*pokes head in and smiles while Adam reads to the girls and quietly stays to listen as well.*

*Chuckling... All right then. *Picks tomes and gets ready.
Hmmm, this was about to get interesting... Seems the toys were starting to explore the castle when the doorbell rang. Chapter 11 promises the arrival of a few friends.

*Acknowledges Izzy listening in.
*Aside to Isabelle: Cleared the schedule, hope it's all fright if I take you out to dinner tomorrow night.

Out in the jungle (which is really their own backyard)

*sees the car fly by* Whoa! Did you see that?

Biggy: What was it?

I don't know but it went like this. *imitates the car*

Biggy: I know what it is now!

What?

Biggy: Mr. Moppet, Mrs Moppet Senior and Jack all driving in a car.

You are sure?

Biggy: I'm the bigfoot who knows everything.

But you didn't know that I was your owner.

Biggy: Because your not! *folds arms*

Come on. We have to find that Yakky. He'll never give up on finding that bird.

Toady--where did I put those application forms? <opens all desk drawers, sifts through the file cabinets, looks under desk calendar> *sigh* I know I had them right before I sat down...oh! <stands, and finds application in desk chair> Aha! Ah, well--so much for the princess and the pea, I suppose.

Toady: Ma'am--we're getting calls from parents wishing to change homerooms.

Don't be ridiculous, Toady. We don't have any parents in home rooms, only students.

Toady: <looks confused> No, I mean, um, the parents are calling because they're unhappy with the home rooms their students have been assigned.

*SIGHS* Oh, heavens-to-Bertram, it's the same story every year. Parents want their child to get so-and-so because they had so-and-so, or because an older sibling had so-and-so or because Mr. and Mrs Muckety-Muck's child is in so-and-so's room. Don't they understand that assigning home rooms is a delicate, complicated, precise undertaking?

Toady: I thought we just threw darts at the chart.

Don't be impudent. The darts are magical, of course, and you have to do it on a full moon (which is particularly hard, I might add, on our school librarian, who happens to be a werewolf).

Toady: <shifting uncomfortably from flippered foot to flippered foot> Um, what should I tell them to do. <Receives long, pointed stare from the Headmistress> Um, I don't think I can tell them to--oh! Maybe we could send out a general post explaining our policy?

Surely you don't think that will work?

Toady: No, but by the time they sort through all the legalese, school will have started and it will be a moot point.

Hmmm. I have to say, I like it. It's sneaky, and just obvious enough to seem clever. <eyes Toady thoughtfully> You know, you make a pretty good assistant, for a toad.

Toady: <waggles eyebrows enticingly> If you think I'm a good toad, you ought to see what sort of prince I make.

Not buying it, dear. You were never a prince. But if you're good this year, maybe we'll consider an upgrade, hm?

Toady: <philosophically> Haven't got much to lose, have I? *sigh* I'll just send out a parents bulletin by the next post.

Mrs Moppet Senior: *waits until the car is inches from her and Jack* Well? *springs onto the speeing car, hoiking Jack off his feet, slides across the roof and hangs on behind with her feet firmly planted on the bumper* Now, let's talk about dinner shall we?

Father: *in car* What the...I swear I saw a flash of something white...if that's one of Mr Cole ghouls I'll be less than impressed...

Mrs Moppet Senior: *hanging behind car* Alterntively, if you don't wish to talk, I could break the back windshield and step inside with a chat with my son about your behavior in previous lives?
