Happy Valentine's Day!

I've been reading your comments about how some people spend so much on weddings and such.

I don't plan to ever get into a relationship again (haven't been in one for the last ten years and I'd like to forget that relationship ever happened). I prefer my freedom to do what I please.

Mom and I watch a lot of wedding shows that air in Canada - 'Wedding S.O.S.', 'Bridezilla'; and I can't believe the people that are stupid enough to spend thousands of dollars just for a wedding. I just don't see the point, sometimes the marriage doesn't last. Couples just don't know how to get along and make compromises.

It's hard for me to tell whether or not I was able to get through V-Day this year any better or worse than last year...

It kind of feels maybe a pint worse this year, I don't know, but then again, love has given me an off day every once in a while; I wouldn't say this has been one of those off days though, otherwise, I think I'd really be down in the dumps.

But, again. All I have to say about Valentine's Day is this: bah humbug.

*Announcer voice* And so, another Valentine's Day has come and gone, and Western civilization continues to crumble.

All in all I've decided, there are a lot worse things in life than Valentine's Day, lol. Moving on!

Well this V-day was a lot better than last years. I mean, sure, a few clubs in my school were selling flowers, candy, and teddy bears that you could order to have them bring to someone else's class, but at least when theycame in to give them to everyone else in my class it cut down on time that I had to learn Spanish (I have a theory that all spanish teachers aren't normal. In 5th grade my teacher was quiet and had a weird accent, not to mention did almost nothing when students would act up, in 6 + 7th grade my teacher was the strictest person I have ever met, and would almost never let us leave the class, since apparently Spanish is not time to go to the bathroom, instead you should go during one of the stupid classes, like math or science. In 8th grade my teacher was just a crazy person, and was obsessed with "Her Connie", American Idol's Constantine Maroulis. That was ALL she talked about. And now, in 9th grade, my teacher will tell us on Thursday that we have a test the next day, and that she actually first told us a week before, but EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE CLASS FORGOT about it. All 23 of us. Not to mention, she has this bell that she lets this one idiot kid in my class have and ring every time we get something wrong. [ex: "Como se dice "Checkers"?" "EL"- "DING DING DING DING (continues for a good 15 seconds) "WRONG! It's LAS damas"] it's so distracting, and annoying, and I learn NOTHING in that class! And, I guess this has nothing to do with V-Day anymore, does it?)

We now return you to your regularly scheduled V-day thread.

This year definitely beats out last year. Last year I was horribly depressed because the guy I really cared for didn't want a relationship, so, yeah, last year this was terrible. This year? Got all gussied up, felt good about myself, and tonight I hung out with friends, drank wine, and watched movies. Excellent night of excellence.

Interesting to hear about your Valentine's, everyone.

I phoned my aunt last night and spoke with her, and told her that I loved her. Somehow you can't make it happen: just the moment to tell someone you love them, and when it does happen, the world becomes a big, good place.

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, but I can tolerate it. I'm currently single and will likely remain that way in the indefinite future for a multitude of reasons, but I'm not going to begrudge any happy loving couples having a special day. Probably going to just have a regular Tuesday; class, work, reading, whatever college basketball game is on.

I already mailed Valentines to several folks (many with chewy red hots!) just for fun. Why should schoolkids get the cool Muppet Valentines?

Not in love, unless you count impossible obsessions, but hey, it can be a day to appreciate people in our lives who make us smile. :news:
