I don't think Rosita was a character on Plaza Sesamo, but I know that her performer Carmen Osbahr moved to NY from Mexico City where she worked on Plaza Sesamo.

Also, guys, didn't Forgetful Jones do a background walk on in Elmopalooza too?

Also, someone mentioned Elmo Saves Christmas and Forgetful's non speaking appearance, but does anyone know why Bert and Ernie never had any lines? They had a great moment when they walked by the tv which was playing a scene from Its a Wonderful Life and Jimmy Steward said his lines from the film where he was talking to Bert and Ernie (the characters in the story) and the Muppets Bert and Ernie looked at each other and then each other very puzzled. It was nice that they had that awesome (rather predictable but wanted) bit, but they are two of the biggest characters on SS. Why would they be there and never talk? Frank Oz was there to do Grover, why not Bert?

Yeah Ernie and Bert having minor, background roles in this episode puzzled me as well. Steve Whitmire definetley was there, because he played Kermit. Frank Oz played Grover and Cookie Monster, so you know he was there. I could see if Frank and Steve weren't available, then I'd understand. I guess Elmo just has that effect on people. :stick_out_tongue:

Now that I think about it, Frank and Steve may not have been available the whole time. I mean, all the Grover and Fat Blue bits were all separate shots and Cookie Monster's little scene with Elmo could have been shot in 5 minutes. These could have been done separately from the rest of the movie. Same with the Kermit scene. Because it was a Sesame Street News bit on the tv, it was shot before hand. Did Steve play Lightning? I forget. If he did, then obviously Steve was definitely there for the whole shoot. At any rate, its still odd. Bert and Ernie could have had atleast a tiny little scene of some kind. Didn't need to be much. Just a little 2 line joke and Ernie's laugh, thats it! Still, I like the movie anyway.

I have read on imdb.com that Rosita was a cross over from "Plaza Sesamo," but their info isn't always correct. I've never seen her on the "Plaza Sesamo" that's on today, unless she was on the original production as discussed in the other thread.

"Elmo, where did we go wrong?!!"

M.M.I.B. (Monster and Men In Black)

Kevin Clash - "O.K. Elmo, people are obviously still noticing other characters here. Let's make an attempt to try this again."

Elmo - "O.K. Kevin!"

Elmo and Kevin suddenly apear on everyones computer screen, dressed in cool black suits and shades and carrying "flash sticks".

Kevin - "This time, let me do all the talking." (He summons everyones) attention:"May I have everyones attention, please. I need you all to look strait at these sticks Elmo and I are holding in our hands." (As people everywhere look on, they flask the sticks, erasing our present short term memorie. As we look on blankly, Kevin proceeds to state " Now. From this moment on, when you watch SS or any Elmo Specials, the main monster you will notice is Elmo. You will love Elmo. You will adore Elmo and only Elmo!" Elmo whispers in Kevins ear for a few seconds, then Kevin proceeds. O.K. you can also notice Zoe, Baby Bear and Telly, But your main focus will still be on elmo! I have Spoken!" They close the sticks and, while everyone proceeds to regain their conciousness, they hurry and exit the screen.)

Elmo - "Does Kevin promise Elmo now that Elmo will be the favorite character again on SS?"

Kevin - "Well, Elmo, I sure hope so. There is only one slight problem."

Elmo - "What's that, Kevin?"

Kevin - "Unfortunately the sticks only work on short-term memory. And I still don't know how to get all the members on this forum at one time. We'll have to keep working on that. Elmo? Elmo! I told you not to play with that stick! Close it right now! No, Elmo! No! Don't push that button!!!!!!!!!!!!! We don't have our shades on! Nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!______" *Poof!*

On a more serious note......

I think mabey one of the reasons some of Richard Hunt's characters have not been revived is because there was simply no one that could match the wit and charm he put into his characters when he played them. He was a very talented person and I think that it is neat that so many people, young and old, have been able to see this and give him the credit he deserves.

I can agree with you there. He was pretty unique. They all are, but I think Richard's characters on SS were the most "out there". None of them are necessarily what you'd call spotlight characters the way Big Bird, Bert, Grover and others were, but they added something wonderful to the mix to make it that much more complete. All of his characters were very flamboyant and oddball, for lack of better words. They weren't huge stars, but Gladys, Forgetful, Placido, Don Music...they were the oddball, exentrics that often added the weirdness and nonsense. Does that make any sense. Like if anyone on Sesame Street needed to check into a psychiatric ward, it would have most likely been one of his characters. If Big Bird, Oscar and Ernie were the steak dinner, Richard's characters would be the yummy plate of cake on the side.

Joey Mazzarino played Lightening.
That's what I thought. For some reason I blanked on who exactly is was. I loved Lightning. I think he should make a return to Sesame Street. Him and Elmo were great together, and I think he was probably Mazzarino's least obnoxious character. I love Stinky and Joey Monkey, but you can only have so much of those kinds of characters. In fact, at this time I am going to admit something. I know I tend to defend the characters and I express how much I love all of them. There isn't one character that I really don't like...until now. I absolutely cannot stand that dancing Elephant. Drives me nuts!!!

Okay, I feel better now.

Each of these characters had such different personalities and voices! He was definately a man of many talents. Mabey that's why he is so hard to replace.
In order to get voices that would sound like half the characters he portrayed, they would probably have to hire multiple people. They would be lucky to find a person who could do more than 1 of them (and do them adequately), not to mention some one who could do as many as Richard did. He was definately a unique and special individual.
