It is neat that Herry Monster is on the cover, and great that an early 1970s photo is being used as opposed to a new photo. It looks to me like a few photos of the characters were photoshopped togetehr to form a collage, similar to the Muppet puzzle from 2003. It would have been great if Herbert Birdsfoot, Mr. Snuffleupagus, The Count, Guy Smiley, Sherlock Hemlock, Roosevelt Franklin, Sam the Robot, Prairie Dawn, and Lefty were all on the cover. Well, theres always volume two (hopefully).

Regarding the fact that Rubber Duckie and C is For Cookie are the only skits announced so far, and that they have been released many times. I know that a lot of casual fans might not have them. I remember seeing them as a child but then not seeing them for a long period of time, and then suddenly seeing a lot of specials featuring clips from these (The Muppets: A Celebration of Thirty Years, Stars and Streets Forever, The World of Jim Henson) and wanting to see the whole clips again, especially since all specials with these clips showed the same verses, and then beign happy when I got videos with the entire songs. These are two of my favorite songs from the show, and despite having them on video, I am happy to be having them on the set. I have made a few posts here and on other Muppet message boards listing segments that I'd like to have included on such a release, and usually including these skits.

At Muppet Wiki, this was mentioned on the main page, and there was a quote about these that I have been expecting for a long time. It says, "Also expected on October 24: many new additions to the wiki based on what's on this set".

Well I'll be happy to be proven wrong about thinking they wouldn't make an Oct. 24 release date.

And as for including "C Is for Cookie" and such--well of course they're going to. If they didn't, they'd have thousands of people saying "What?!? Where's 'C Is for Cookie' [or "Rubber Duckie" or whatever]?!? How could they NOT include that?!?" And personally I don't have these skits on DVD. I've been avoiding those endless short Sesame DVDs because they have so much fluff (read, "Elmo and Zoe nonsense") and not enough classic material per disc to make them worth the money. Those short discs have lots of skits I'd like to own, but not enough on any one disc.

This new box set should give me just what I want.

I really like that info. By "the original pilot", does that mean the promotional piece with Rowlf, the first of the test pilots, or the first episode (if the latter, then shouldn't that be considered part of the main content?)? It's interesting that there will be 45 features. I guess thats counting every short bonus skit as seperate features (would that mean that there wont be a clip compilation?). I saw mention of a few specific skits that will be included. Too bad that I didn't see "The Baker Films" or "The Jazzy Spies" listed.

Anyway, it sounds like an exciting set.

I have just noticed that the 1 in "volume 1" looks like it is designed after the 1 in the Baker film series. SWEET!

I figured that this set would come with some sort of booklet, especially since the Electric Company set came with one. Then again, I also expected The Muppet Show: Season 1 to come with a booklet.

When it lists classic animation that parents will remember, and it lists Pinball Number Count, I wonder if that means that all 11 of those skits will be included, or will it just be one of them?

The set listed guest appearances that parents will remember, moments that parents will remember, and animations that parents wil remember, and listed specific moments without adding "and more". I wonder if those are all the bonus skits to be included, or if there are more that aren't listed.

Hey MinorMuppets... Could you plese elaborate a little on what you meant by the number 1 on the boxset being like the one from the Baker series?
Thanks.

Okay, on the title, it says "Old School Vol. 1". The 1 in the title is designed similar to the 1 seen in the opening for the Baker films. I'm not too good at describing these numbers. Maybe somebody else can.

It is good that a better quality picture of the cover was used, though it would be good if a picture of the cover facing the full front of the camera was shown, as opposed to an angle that shows a little bit of the side (unless that side bar is actually part of the cover).

Count, I am not sure if you are wanting a description of the box, but here it is. This is going from memory right now, so parts of it could be wrong. The background is part of the street (I think it shows Big Bird's doors). Big Bird is in the main center. In front of Big Bird are Cookie Monster, Oscar, and Grover. Standing on the right of Big Bird is Ernie, and on the left of Big Bird are Bert and Herry. I forget where the Sesame Street logo is, but on the bottom of the cover is a green bar which says "Old School Vol. 1", with the one designed like in the baker films. Underneath te "Old School" part is "1969-1974".

I just looked at the border again, and I was a bit wrong. There is a border that has a small yellow line and a big green border. The characters are standing in front of the part of 123 Sesame Street that has the window that goes into Ernie and Berts apartment. Bert is actually behind Herry Monster. The Sesame Street logo is near the top right, above Ernie, and "Old School" is written underneath the logo (and in case you are wondering, the sign has "123" written on it, instead of "CTW"). At the botton, under the picture, it sasy "1969-1974 Vol. 1". The side of the packaging can be seen, and on the top is an upside-down image of Big Bird.

I've noticed that Pinball Number Coutn is listed as one of the skits included, yet that skit wasn't around during the first five years. It premiered in 1977. I wonder if there will be any more bonus skits from later.

Thanks for all your help MinorMuppets. Understand why its 1-2-3 instead of CTW... Will definitely have this one on my wishlist, just hope I can get home from my evening class on 10/24 in time to watch the special airing of the international SS documentary as well.
