>>>I don't care what month it's in! I'll be there, I'll miss classes if i have to. There may never be a Muppetfest again, so i'm gonna make sure i'm there! LOL, i was so mad that I missed the last one, I can't make the same mistake twice!<<<

Now thats the attitude I like to hear! The Muppets mean so much to me like they do for a lot on here, that even if I was bunkered down in the inner husk of a NORAD missle command procedure...I'd have to say 'see ya in a week'. Muppetfest 2003 is too big to pass up, regardless of job, school, etc. While some might not get it, Im sure some employers or teachers etc would be quite entertained by the thought of this vacation. I sure hope my employer understands, as I'll quit if I have to. Job, schooling, nothing will keep me from the big apple come MF2K3!
...Hey, I like it! MF2K3! I get dibs on copyrights!

Btw, grail...Toy faire over Muppetfest??? You do know, its virtually a GIVEN there will be a virtual toy faire like mini bonanza at MF, given Palisades and other licencee's expectance to show off the coming year's bounty. Also, Toy Faire gets insane coverage akin to E3 online, so all ya gotta do is go online to go gaga over the
pix from it. I dont think theyll be giving out Unicron robots or Episode Three POTF figures to attendees.

Anyways, to those you who werent able to make it last year(and those who did) I hope you all can make it! What would MF be without the long awaited appearence of jamie, luke, the two headed muffin monster, etc?

but that's just it, i'm going AS one of those sites that takes all the pictures, and causes the bonanza. i've always wanted to go...ever since i found out it existed, it's why i started writing for Zen, why i talked them into letting me do toy reviews...it's all been leading up to the fact that ONLY press and and the companies involved can go to. i'm officially press now, and it's what i've been waiting for. if MuppetFest is in summer, it won't be a problem for me...probably, but if it's in march...well, i'm gonna have to choose. and i even have reasons i can't talk about yet for wanting to go to Toyfare...

Well i wouldn't lose my JOB over Muppetfest, and I don't recomment it to others either. Sometimes a few minutes of pleasure is not worth the consequences faced later on. There is always a way around things though!

I was just coming back to add the Henson licensing folks to what we need in this panel. Someone needs to answer the question 'what are some of the most bizarre product pitches you've had?'

I'd like Pepe, Clifford, or Gonzo to emcee.

More photo ops is something everyone wants. It's complicated because Muppets are so expensive to make and they really can't have all us fans putting out grubby hands on them. Bu there has to be something that could be worked out.... (TMS logo pics, highly supervisied pics with a Kermit)

I'm not sure about gold-ticket only photo ops. The Henson folk are notorious for not wanting to leave anyone out. Last year the autographs were originally gold-only and Henson changed that. Then they had a time limit on autographs but the Henson folk stayed until everyone who waited got their autographs.

I could see gold only photos if they were done as part of the evening entertainment that only gold folk attend or soemthing like that-- but not tagged onto the end of, or during, the regular two days of the Fest.

Funny.. I used to think a lot like that.. I literally let my Job run my life, missing or giving up oppurtunities that might or might not have been risky, because i was afraid of losing the only security I had.. despite the fact I was totally miserable..and what happens? They throw me out when i can't do it anymore due to injury- NO offer of retraining or ANYTHING.. few minutes of pleasure not worth the consquences? I just had SEVENTEEN YEARS of misery and look were it got ME!!
From now on, I go for the pleasure..

on sweetums:

>>>Speaking of which, that my friend was ALSO an idea generated from Muppet Central<<<

really now? hmm..perhaps JHC does listen to us more than we think!

Clifford is of course great at emceeing as weve seen, and I think Pepe and Gonzo would be great too. Aw, more great ideas from the MC think tank and MF is still 7+ motnhs away!

>>>More photo ops is something everyone wants. It's complicated because Muppets are so expensive to make and they really can't have all us fans putting out grubby hands on them<<<

Well, it would be similait I guess to the autograph line last year, except each muppeteer would have their signature Muppet. I really thought this would be an extra thing for the last one...but alas the q&a with the muppets and live show was a very nice surprise...so who knows what JHC have in store. I just wanna sya this to everyone on here...you have not experienced the grand daddy of awesomeness til youve seen the Muppets live in person!

Bu there has to be something that could be worked out.... (TMS logo pics, highly supervisied pics with a Kermit)<<<

'a Kermit'? Like a replica mannequin? I would hope Kermiot himself!

>>>I could see gold only photos if they were done as part of the evening entertainment that only gold folk attend or soemthing like that-- but not tagged onto the end of, or during, the regular two days of the Fest.<<<

Maybe it would be best to have this sort of a thing at a special special gold member evening thing. All I know is this would truly be a dream come true! Btw, has anyone seen a Muppet autograph? Without apposable thumbs, they write pretty messy(ie: Johnny Fiama and Sal)

Finally I would just like to say...sure official Star Wars and Trek cons might be big, loud, and really well planned and all that. But name one con in the entertainment genre where virtually all the main guys are there, and you can actually meet them!

Hmmm, lets see...the most unforgettable experience of a lifetime versus a presumably mostly routine and mundane job...hmmm....
Jackie, this doesnt sound like you! hehe
But yes, there is always a way around things, and if not...tell your boss "Im going to find the rainbow connection!"

Good heavens. I really enjoyed MF 1, but it wasn't the most fulfilling thing in my entire life, and I hope that isn't the case for others too. I hope people are just speaking out of the excitement of the moment.

Folks, it's a bad economy right now. You lose (or give up) your job, you may not get one again for a very, very long time. Some people have families to support. Some people even LIKE their jobs. I don't knock anyone who's able to go, but there seems to be this attitude that we all have to drop EVERYTHING in our lives every time Henson holds a convention. That doesn't seem like the most rational way to look at things. Can we really see anyone in the Henson company doing the same for us? Let's say you were good friends with Bill Barretta, for example, and you invited him to your house for a 4th of July barbeque. When he got there, you asked him how his job was going, and he said, "Oh, they wouldn't let me come to the barbeque, so I quit. No more Pepe, no more Rowlf. My wife's furious at me, but oh, well. Where's the hot dogs?" Can we really say that this scenario is any more ridiculous than what's being suggested here?

Keep in mind I am not calling any person here crazy or ridiculous. I am saying that, in the excitement of the moment, people are saying things that haven't been thought all the way through.

Of course, there are very good reasons to leave a job. I left my job recently to study screenwriting. Screenwriting is a larger goal for my career overall, as opposed to the job that I was working, which was just a job. For me, it was worth the risk. Some people leave jobs because they don't get to see their spouse or kids anymore. Some people leave a job because it's just too oppressive. And of course, if you're working some kind of minimum wage dime-a-dozen job, and you've got plenty of employees to cover the shifts, and your obnoxious boss is just doing a power play, then YES, by all means, quit the job, attend MuppetFest, and get another job when you get back. But a lot of people have CAREERS, and to suggest they ought to give up their job for one weekend of fun is not right.

Smig is right -- employers don't have a lot of loyalty, and you can't let them walk all over you. A lot of people will be able to get the time off. But, while I plan to be at MuppetFest 2, if I'm out in LA by that point on a film shoot and the director needs me -- sorry. I'm not going to flush my Hollywood career down the toilet just to watch other Hollywood people enjoying their job.

I'm not mad at anyone, so please don't take it that way. I'm glad people are excited about MF, whenever it's held. But more than one person has (unintentionally, I think) communicated the idea that a TRUE Muppet fan would gladly give up their "silly job" to attend MuppetFest, and I thought things needed to be put in a little perspective.

(As a side note, if the new Muppet series goes to into production in early 2003, won't they still be shooting at the time of MF? I don't want them to a) be unable to put together another live show because they're too busy with filming; b) be too busy with filming to even come. "Filming ran over schedule, so Bill and Dave and Steve couldn't make it to MF this year. However, we do have the guy who plays Bear for shopping-mall appearances again!" Umm, no offense, but no thanks.)

All right, I got that off my chest now. Thanks to everyone for this good discussion.

Hey Tom!

well for me, it was the highlight of 2001 personally in my life, being as 2001 was so bad in a lot of ways. Speaking out of the excitement of the moment? You bet...just wait til an official announcement is reached and Phil creates a new forum solely for MF! Then youll really see some of the moment talk! heh

>>>But more than one person has (unintentionally, I think) communicated the idea that a TRUE Muppet fan would gladly give up their "silly job" to attend MuppetFest, and I thought things needed to be put in a little perspective.<<<

eeek, that was me. Hmm, ok what I said does need to be rephrased. I hadnt thought about dream job scenarios. You see alot of us have(or will have) usual office or mall or whatever jobs.
If its Muppetfest or yet another boring day on the job...I dont see how thats a choice. However...what I said of course doesnt apply to you or anyone else who has a dream job. Then of course I know theres no choice.

hehe, man your too much! LOL yeah, I really think that before anything was settled MF wise that they would make sure schedules are clear.
