Ernie: Be right back, Kyle. Gotta get something from my room! (running into the room and sees Bert examining some paperclips) Bert, what are you doing? You're supposed to be working on your surprise birthday present for Robot Kermit.
Bert: I am, Ernie.
Ernie: It looks to me like you're staring at your paperclips, Bert.
Bert: I am not just staring at my paperclips, Ernie. I am brainstorming.
Ernie: Brainstorming, you say?
Bert: I have considered what you said. You are right, I was not being good about sharing. So I've decided it is time to part with some of my paperclips.
Ernie: Really, Bert!?
Bert: Well, only the unrare ones.
Ernie: But, Bert...I was only teasing. Besides, who is going to want a paperclip?
Bert: Oh Ernie, there is so much more to a paperclip than you realize!
(sings)
Have you ever looked at a paper clip
I mean, really stop to look?
Have you ever seen how it can
Hold together the pages of a book?
Have you ever looked at a paper clip
When it shines under the light, huh?
Have you ever put it on your finger
And watched it hold on tight?
Anyone can look at a rainbow
Anyone can look at the sky
To see that those things are pretty
You don't really have to try
But, have you ever seen how a paper clip
It's so ... I don't know. So flat, huh?
Have you noticed how it keeps on bending
And say "Why, now, look at that!"
If you stopped and looked at a paper clip
For just a minute or two
You might get to love a paper clip
The way that I do
Ernie: So you are going to give Robot Kermit some of your paperclips?
Bert: Uh huh!
Ernie: Well, Bert. I don't think it's a terrible idea...
Bert: I knew you'd come around!
Ernie: But I think we need to make it a little more interesting.
Bert: More interesting?
Ernie: You can't just give a plain old paperclip. We should make something fun with them.
Bert: Yeah? Well...will ya help me?
Ernie: Of course, ol' buddy Bert! What are friends for?
Bert: Oh thank you.
