When I was little, I thought Chapel of Love was about getting married at Halloween. I heard "Going to the Jack O'Lantern, gonna get married" instead of "Going to the chapel and we're gonna get married".

I'm reminded of this epic fail as kid from "Cabin Fever".

Correct: "I'd like to get my hands on whoever wrote the script"
Misheard: "I like to get my Hanes (underwear) on whoever rode this trip"

The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace

The mondegreen (misunderstood lyric): Brother, what a night the Beatles saw,
Brother, what a fight the Beatles saw, Yes indeed

Actual lyrics: Brother, what a night the people saw,
Brother, what a fight the people saw, Yes indeed

I'm surprised this one hasn't come up yet:
The Eagles- "Hotel California"

Misheard: "On a dark desert highway, Cool Whip in my hair"
Actual: "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair"

And one that still defies description, Steve Miller - "The Joker":
"And I speak of the pompitus of love"
I think the jury is gonna be out a long time on that one...

The Kingsmen- "Louie Louie".

After the first line, drunkenly slurred,
"Louie Louie, whoa baby, we gotta go, yeah yeah yeah", you're on your own.

But buried in there, you can actually hear,
"Every night at ten, I *** her again".

Almost 50 years after being recorded, and many cover versions later, it's doubtful this song was ever performed sober.

Jack Ely was the lead singer on the Kingsmen's version of Louie, Louie. During the recording session, the studio personnel wanted the song to sound like a live performance, so Ely had to lean back and sing to a microphone suspended from the ceiling. He was also wearing braces at the time, which resulted in the slurred vocals.

As a result, many different, unofficial bootleg interpretations came about, and varied greatly based on what the listeners thought they allegedly heard.

The FBI obtained a copy of the recording, and after investigating, concluded that the recording could not be interpreted, it was unintelligible at any speed, and could not find any conclusive evidence of obscenity.

LOL! I did the EXACT same thing!

Here's one - "My Cherie Amour, ugly as a summer's day"

And a Muppet one - In Keep Christmas With You All Through the Year, it sounded like they were singing "These precious moments, hold them, Prairie Dear" (as if the song was directed at Prairie Dawn!)
I thought it was Mary Dear before I realized it was very dear!

Two from Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive"

Correct: "Sometimes you tell the day by the bottle that you drink"
Misheard: "Sometimes you tell the day by the Bible that you bring"

Correct: "I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride"
Misheard: "I'm a cowboy, on a stale ol' horse I ride"
