"scarylarrywolf,
When you say you must support your leader, it almost sounds like Darth Vader saying I must obey my master."

Yeah, "almost", except not. I'm merely standing up for my beliefs like you are and standing beside those who I understand to be just in their cause.

I really don't appreciate getting ranked on personally, especially after throwing in a disclaimer like that and not wanting to insult anyone. So please try to refrain from talk like that. And thank you for at least not dissing Bush.

In fact if you look back, I have dissed Bush. I personally think he is an evil, evil man. He will get us in more trouble than he is worth. But than again I'm just spewing out my Bush-bashing, peace-nik, love one another attitude. Can you smell armageddon yet?

..........And a moment of silence please for Sidcrowe. He will be missed in this thread.

As a moderator I feel it is necessary to make certain that nobody is offended by any of my statements.

Nothing derogatory was meant by the term peacenik, however I am quite upset with the thousands of peace marchers exhibiting criminal behavior right outside my apartment. Many of whom are arrested each day. If you lived here with the “vomit ins” and looting you’d probably feel the same. There are some very peaceful protesters and I have mentioned that on the forum. Still, they are costing this city at least one million dollars a day in an already crippled local economy. I just wish the peace demonstrators could be as civil as those out there supporting the troops and those just trying to get to work.

It is every posters right to note their dislike for Bush and pin the war on him, but it doesn't make for an effective debate for peace. The majority of Democrats are firmly behind the war so both parties should be brought into the issue to be completely fair. The connection is obvious, but not the entire issue. It is still members right to say it.

I don't even know why Michael Moore was mentioned here, but my referring to him as a ball of gas was in reaction to his statements, not his obesity. I have many very dear friends who would be considered overweight. To me it's like saying he is full of hot air, which I still think he is. You are welcome to disagree.

Yes, I have a point of view, but it is not more or less valid than yours. It is important to choose your words wisely to get your point across. If anyone misread my intent, then maybe I do too. I hope some forum guidelines are posted soon so we all can more easily post without going over the line.

This thread is about war and peace, not personal attacks or slander of forum members. With Americans, Brits, Australians, Iraqis and others dying overseas, it seems so petty and needless. Lets keep this conversation civil so it is not shut down. I still have faith that Muppet Central members can have a healthy, spirited debate on the issues at hand.

Thanks

It's nice to know you have a "love one another attitude" too. Who exactly is the "one another" you apply that too? I'm just a little confused as to how that applies when you don't like Bush and you don't support a killing machine on the Iraqi throne. I apply the love to the people of Iraq -- the war is to liberate them as well as reduce the threat to Western civilization. Love can hurt sometimes, but after this is all over, those people will be MUCH better off (i.e. Afghanistan). This is a war against evil in favor of justice and safety.

This is the first 'General Discussion' I have participated in, and it will be my last. I am 100% against the war, and I hate, detest and spit on Bush. That's all, that was it for my participation.

My love and compassion goes to those who will loose or already have lost a friend by this war (and not only the Americans, The Iraqi's too!!!).

Three, I hope the USA will capture Saddam Hussein, so this war hasn't been for nothing.

Goodbey, I am talking about Muppets again

Me again. . . .

Although I said I was walking away from this debate I have been watching other's posts with interest and felt this was important enough to be said. Zachary said,

"the exidents or mistakes that have happend so far are really heartbraking, i have already heard of 4 helicopter crashes, a plane shot down by mistake, the whole horrifing troop member throwing bombs in are own tents killing one and wonding 15 makes me sick, and today i just heard of someone from my home town and city was killed due to a gun going off by mistake..."

The truth is that many servicemen and women are killed in training accidents almost on a weekly basis, during time of war or peace. (if somebody has the numbers I would be interested). Although no less tragic and just as heroic they do not garner the media coverage that the accidents that occur during war time do. We should all keep this mind. Our servicemen and women make tremendous sacrifices to defend our rights and liberties. We should all be thankful to them and express our gratitude to them when we get a chance, whether it be somebody that is currently serving or somebody that has served in the past.

May God bless our troops!

Hi MuppetsRule, I didn't even know that, and your right the troops are given their lives for us weither in training or at war. it was good and important that you said that. thank you for bringing that up.

Zachary,
By the way, Zach, I'm glad you're enjoying your Soc course. As a sociology prof of course I think it is fun and interesting, but it is great to hear that kind of enthusiasm in a student!
Thanks MuppetQuilter! LOL! i find it funny that i'm interested in it, i felt the class would be really hard, it's not easy, but it's interesting so it's not boring hard...you know, like math:smile: i think i make take other classes like this, right now it's just an intro class, best way to start i guess;-)

One thing to point out, then I think I'm out of here too:

Am I the only one who finds it hypocritical that people have negative things to say about people over here who are bringing violence into their peace protests, but they have nothing negative to say about our forces are over in Iraq bombing the you-know-what out of it in an attempt to bring about peace?
