You gotta agree.... Bush is the one who got us into this mess.... of Course, Regan started it... let's not forget Israel....

I'm not walking, but skipping... I mean, Tomahawk puts it too eliquantly, and I am getting sick of agreeing....

And yes, I think Saddam's a first class A-wipe....

Of course, all world leaders are!

The thing is I don't believe this war is just. I f it were Clinton I would be saying the same things. it was amazing how after there was no conclusive end to the Bin Laden ordeal, everyone needed a new enemy so that on the forefront it would look like Bush was doing his job in the fight against terrorism. But this has nothing to do with that. This is one of those senerios that will never be fully understood. I appretiate everyones input and yes I agree I can be very over the top at times but I am very passionately against war. In my opinion there were other things that could have been done.I guess what I am saying is tht in the last two years there have been some really strange things happening and as human beings we have every right to question what is beind told, sold and given out to us.

Jamie: I've never really got in your face on the forum for all the time we've been here, but I'm not taking your characterizations lying down anymore. Here's a direct quote, not a misinterpretation or fabrication put in quotation marks like the others do against me, but a proper copy and paste, written by you...

"I agree with you here. Kinda sad. It started so well, but deteriorated into a debate about the President, special interests not directly involved in the war conflict and namecalling"

Yeah, but it's okay to label Bush opponents and detractors as "Bush bashers," protestors as"peacenicks," made up of a majority which is "downright criminal." And let's not forget the obese Michael Moore is a "bag of gas."

Insults are all about labeling people, to take away their dignity. You've done a fair job of it.

For the record, a genuine "moderator" must take no side. Either get in and wrestle with us, or stand back. Referees don't throw punches. Maybe you could say you can enjoy participation and arbitration at the same time if you choose to, but you're breaking your own rules.

Don't take the high road and lament our conduct when you do the same.

"deteriorated into a debate about the President..."

It EVOLVED into a debate about the President. It started with "interesting Gulf War news," how could it NOT include the President? He is the leader; he gave the word to begin. You just don't like where the debate led to. Too bad. It went to the President. It moved that way. Just because you don't want Bush criticized, you say the thread "deteriorated."

Bush detractors are no more to be labeled as "Bush bashers" then supporters are to be labeled "Bush zealots."

Protestors are no more "peacenicks" than supporters are "extremists," or "war-mongers."

And unless you have the police files of all people in your area, who are you to say the majority of those protestors are "criminal?"

Jim Henson attracted a lot of interesting people from around the world. If this forum can't handle or allow the discussion of the adult topic of politics in wartime, or admit that it AIN'T PRETTY no matter HOW you look at it, then may I suggest you delete all these threads and we'll go back to talking about candy, plastic toys and DVD extras while the world topples into chaos.

I'm sure Jim Henson would be proud...or rather, Disney...or Saban.

We are all directly involved, for what Bush began involves us all. Every point should be explored and entertained.

Iraq has to swallow America's bombs. Doesn't America have the stomach to swallow some debate?

Maybe not here.

(I'm done for the day. I blew all of yesterday on the forum, and I'm not doing it two days in a row)

I have had your back on many occasions. I will no longer make that mistake. I've made my statements and stand by them. None of them are absolutes; they are observations from my perspective. Read into them what you want. I have yet to see you in friendly discussions around here. However, I often see loaded arguments pointed at forum members with the intention to provoke a reaction. Posting on the forum is a privilege. The moderators work very hard to maintain peace of the members on the forum and behind the scenes. It aint an easy job and nobody’s perfect. Passion is fine, but to purposely try to offend people is not and never has been.

Now here's a sentiment we can probably all get behind. And not just for those in Iraq, but for everyone caught in conflicts and wars throughout the world. Whatever our political and ideological views, I don't think any of us want to see people in harm's way.

Maybe someday we will all live in peace.

By the way, Zach, I'm glad you're enjoying your Soc course. As a sociology prof of course I think it is fun and interesting, but it is great to hear that kind of enthusiasm in a student!

Well, I haven't read ALL the posts on this thread, but I would just like to say that I am EXTREMELY FRICKIN' P*SSED off when people trash talk Bush. :boo: :grouchy: :attitude: Can anyone really picture Gore doing anything of value in a situation like this? Bush is taking action for our own safety, Americans!!!!! How can people be so blind?! I've heard this has "no connection with Sept. 11th" (a statement for which there is no proof yet) -- but it's a threat for another such crisis and NOW is our chance to prevent it. What in the heck ever happened to "we will never forget"?!?! We're supposed to learn from history -- pacifists need to put that to action.

One thing people spit on Bush for is the unsupported claim that "he and his oil buddies just want to start a war to get rich from oil". THAT IS AN ASSININE SUPPOSAL. Who are these oil buddies who are referred to? Why would they pick on Iraq which only has 11% of the oil in the Middle East when Saudi Arabia has 25%? There is far less proof (none, in fact) that Bush is heading us to war over oil revenue than over a nuclear threat from the dufus illegitimately in charge of Iraq. Sadaam is known to be an EVIL dictator -- this nuclear threat meshes with his character. And who's peeked into our top secret satellite photos lately? Plenty of evidence there. You can't make a judgment on someone for something about which you have no proof. We have proof that Sadaam is a ruthless maniacal dictator -- blame him for gosh sakes!!!

I don't wish for people to missunderstand me -- I am not violent by nature. I would like to go on living life in peace. But a throne-swiping goon in the Middle East is making this world a dangerous place and he needs to be stopped. What will it take for people to realize this threat? Sadaam has hated the U.S. long enough, and then our "beloved" Clinton bought him time to stock up more nukes. And now we beat our own leader over the head about trying to save us from the effect of our former leader's neglect? That's really peaceful...

I believe that violence is a sin unless done in self defense. Sadaam = violence for his own prosperity. Bush = violence in defense of America and freedom.

As an American, I support peace by eliminating violent Iraqi dictators. Good day, Sir.

Jamie: You've had your last word. Can you allow me mine?

"I have yet to see you in friendly discussions around here."

I signed scarecroe's online Star Wars petition, mentioned Charles Schulz in another thread, and Phil himself told me where to get Mr. Rogers CDs. All in the last few days. Friendly as can be. As for this thread, I find military action of any kind to be serious, and not funny at all. I guess we disagree. But I have been in friendly discussion "around here."

"However, I often see loaded arguments pointed at forum members with the intention to provoke a reaction."

So...it's okay for you to call leftist Michael Moore a "ball of gas?" That wasn't loaded or meant to get a reaction, right? Don't bother replying to my point. You never take responsibility when I copy and paste your own words.

"Posting on the forum is a privilege."

Having people visit and keep the hits up on this website is a priviledge, too.

"Passion is fine, but to purposely try to offend people is not and never has been."

"Peacenicks, "Bush-bashers," "criminal" protestors and calling a fat guy a "ball of gas." All from our moderator, you. Offensive as can be.

I won't mention you or your posts again, no matter what they are. I'm off this thread. You win. Bye.

"God bless us, EVERY one."

scarylarrywolf,
When you say you must support your leader, it almost sounds like Darth Vader saying I must obey my master.
