I always found it strange that the smurfs only had 1 girl

And I think girls do have some sort of an addams apple. If you feel around in the upper center of your neck there is a small bump (and if you swallow it will move slightly). Me and my friend were having a debate about this a while ago. We came to an agreement everyone has one, but girls have smaller ones that dont poke out of your neck like some guys do.

Actually technically the Smurfs never had any girls.
Smurfette was created by the evil wizard Gargamel to help him catch the Smurfs. But she changed sides and joined the Smurf village. So all the smurfs were male. I guess we were not meant to wonder about where they all came from.

The adams apple is the cartlidge covering the larynx (voice box/vocal cords) guys are thicker and more prominent. So, everyone has one just not everyone's in noticable.
