HBO Max to debut Sesame Street Seasons 51-55 and stream episodes from 50-year library

I mean, the classic episodes have pulled me in, so has the Elmo late night show, so I'll gladly subscribe to HBO Max to support Sesame Workshop.

We've mentioned several times that Sesame Workshop has been looking for the best way to make more of their classic library available for fans and today we get this major official announcement. HBO Max is a new streaming service debuting in spring 2020.

All the new stuff will hit PBS too, probably in the same 9-month window deal-thing.

Does that include the animated spin offs and up late with elmo?

Per their press release: "Newly commissioned HBO Max content will also be made available to PBS KIDS after premiering on HBO Max. "

Whatever, I still thought they should’ve just ended the show right after Season 50 and start a new one with the same characters, but a new setting. Then at least we could have said that Sesame Street had a good 50-year run. That’s just my opinion (represented by a very small minority).

I also wonder how this HBO Max Service will work in general. Like how much will it cost, etc. From what I understand, it’s not something that comes along with your cable/satellite provider, but something you would subscribe to instead of cable or satellite, aka “cutting the cord.” I even wonder if HBO Max could replace the regular HBO.

Considering that a lot of kids watch Netflix and other streaming services, this is 100% the right move! Plus, all of those classic episodes sound pretty dope.

As long as they're not cut down to size and are aired in their original format.

I did google this info earlier today. The regular HBO services charge about $14.99/month, so I'm guessing it will be around the same price for Max. If that's the case, subscribers will have the option to use the 30 day (or 1 month, whichever it is) free trial. After it expires, and you want to continue using the service, you'll have to pay whatever they charge once a month until you decide to unsubscribe.

Overall, that's the impression I'm getting, so I could be wrong.

That is amazing! However, based on the subject line, I was led to believe that "Sesame Street" will no longer be airing on television. But the idea of putting the show on a streaming service is a wonderful idea, as there would be broader access to the show via computers or mobile devices.

The classic episodes as an on-demand basis is also incredible news too. However, I don't know if some animated inserts will be edited out for the on-demand service. I would expect those episodes will be edited for the purpose of adding the full Friday closing credits.

Either way, HBO Max will be Sesame Street paradise next spring.
