Should I point out that among the states that are reporting an influx in poison control calls from people who have, indeed, ingested disinfectants because Trump suggested it, mine is one of those states? And, should I also point out that Trump is denying any responsiblilty for their actions since he was, "being sarcastic"?

Do I have to be the one to do this? Sigh... ok...

It is true that there is an increase of poison control calls across the nation. Currently, 20% higher than the same period of time last year nation wide. It is also true that this spike started documented by the CDC happened between January and March:

It has nothing to do with Trump's comments.

So why the spike? Simple. These calls are for exposure to disinfectants. ell, what have people been using a lot more of lately? Disinfectants. People are disinfecting their groceries now for crying out loud, of course we are going to see a spike.

In addition to that, what else is different this year versus the same time last year? Oh, almost everyone is staying home, many with kids in the house all day. Well that would explain the increase of kids 0-19 being exposed to cleaning products. It's almost as if there is a direct relationship between the use of a chemical and the improper use of or dangerous exposure to said chemical.

This is a case where the news is reporting something that is technically true, but skewing the context to make it look like something else.

But, but, but . . . . FOX news, FOX news, FOX news.

Thank you for that post MWoO. I had the same reaction when I first read the report. The spike happened between January and March. When did President Trump make his statement? Last week. Please, please, please D'Snowth, do your homework.

Just once, I'd like to see D'Snowth man up and post in here when he's been proven wrong. It happens again and again. Any reply to MWoO's post, D'Snowth?

Parents Just Don’t Understand. I got a cassette single (that format didn’t last long) for my 20th birthday. I don’t feel old, but one more grey hair.

Even though it's still up to the individual states as to whether they want to go ahead and reopen or not, Trump and Pence have been making rounds to persuade local state governments to do just that. A Trump-lovin' lady friend of mine who lives down in Florida is absolutely elated that he and Pence had persuaded their governor to go ahead and reopen the state; she doesn't care at all if people get sick and/or die, she just wants Floridians to go back to work ASAP.

First of all, no state is going to reopen all at once. In the case of Florida, strict measures will need to be in place. No governor of any state, or mayor of any city, is going to open up parks, beaches, restaurants, public gatherings, etc.
Disney World is not opening up right away because they don’t want casualties to spike. At best the park will be opened at 50% capacity.

oh, and this just in. While Michelle Obama was urging everyone in DC and Virginia to stay quarantined, unless for essential workers, food shopping, etc., Barack was out on the golf links. Country clubs are an essential business now.

Just a reminder. Dr. Fauci said in early March, “If we do this right, you’ll know because we will be criticized for having gone too far. They’ll say see it wasn’t even that bad. It comes with the territory.”
