I thought the pilot episode was pretty good, but this one was absolutely phenomenal! I especially loved the little things, like the Mayhem grocery shopping and Dr. Teeth & Floyd playing pong. They're such an engaging ensemble that they make even mundane activities feel wildly entertaining. Also...

Long overdue, but I finally began watching The Muppets Mayhem. I feel like this episode corrected an error developed in Muppets Most Wanted (and, to some degree, the 2011 film) by actually having the characters in the series like the Muppets (or more specifically the Mayhem). Nobody had to pay...

Kermit's role in "Muppets Haunted Mansion" was limited & he was completely out of the picture in "The Muppets Mayhem". What that signals to me is that Disney is aware that the performance as of yet is not up to par. I wish the compromise was be to have Steve back but let Matt (or someone else)...

They do both appear in this UK spot, but I'm still not convinced they share striking similarities, perhaps the eyes?

Kinda crazy that at this point, many people probably know that Elmo has a doll named David but not where the name comes from. Neat upload.

If you didn't get the reference, then I'm not sure how much of a muppet fan you really are.

I think this is what they call a running gag.

The experience of being a Muppet fan in the last 10-12 years can be summed up by the GIF of Charlie Brown trying to kick the football.

I did watch the trailer with the audio off, and everything looked good to me, so there's definitely nothing off about Matt's puppeteering. I really hope this series gets a full-length order and Matt gets a chance to really refine the voice. It doesn't have to be like Jim or Steve, but it should...

Fair points. I do agree that Matt hasn't had nearly as many projects to perform Kermit in. Maybe this potential reboot will change that.

Look, I understand that the new performers aren't going to be exactly the same, but I think they should be good enough at replicating the mannerisms, spirit, and voice of the characters that the illusion isn't broken. For instance, I don't think Matt is a perfect match for Big Bird or the Count...

That was such a good performance that I genuinely wondered for a second there if Steve had returned. This is why I'm so critical of the current Kermit, they can clearly do so much better.

On a more positive note though, it'll be quite surreal to experience watching The Muppet Show on TV, as someone who wasn't around when it originally aired (which I'm guessing is most people in this thread). I'm just curious if the set design will stay true to the original series (the teaser...

I know Jim ended The Muppet Show so that they could go out while they were still on top, but the small screen failures of the past 40 years makes me wonder if they'd have been better off continuing the show indefinitely a la SNL or Simpsons. The quality probably would've declined at some point...

Let's not get carried away. I'm cautiously optimistic about this and more excited than I have been for a muppet project in about a decade, but this is a one-time thing. We'll see if there's enough interest to justify a full order.

I just revisited "The Muppet Show Book", it has some really great illustrations. I am curious to know, however, why they replaced Don Knotts with Sam the Eagle for the Lullaby of Birdland scene. If all the humans were replaced by muppet stand-ins, I could understand, but they have Candice...

Frank Oz had similar criticisms about Disney's handling of the Muppets. Richard Hunt was also no fan of the Disney deal when it was originally supposed to happen in 1989. They definitely took the soul out of the franchise. The Muppets of the past worked because they embraced affectionate...

Yes, the MacDowell episode is hilarious. That was the point where Muppets Tonight was really finding itself and forming an identity outside of The Muppet Show with those sitcom-like plotlines. It's just too bad it got canceled shortly after.
