The music used for Statler and waldorfs spot in the secodn season openign basically sounded like an instrumental version of the "why don't you get things started" line. In the thirs and fourth seasons, the music in this scene sounded a bit different. I can't really describe this music.

Well, I didn't know about that segment, but it does make since that more than just a muppet news flash was cut, since it was way shorter than 2 minutes. However, that doesn't really explain why the news segment from the ruth buzzi episode was cut and nothing else.
