I wish somebody here would call The Muppets Studio and/or its head Lyelle Brier to ask what the reason for the hold-up is. It was done before back when everyone was wondering when Season 2 would be released.
It's bad enough that Greg James of The Muppet Newsflash site abandoned us all for no...
You are entitled to your opinion, Melissa, but I still don't see what you see wrong with the new film (which IS one of the more truly-Muppety things they've done in a long, long time). Please try to understand that it's the kind of film that HAD to be made--anything else would've been a flop, as...
I fully disagree. The Muppets have NOT been "Disney-fied" in any way. And the new movie did a great job of reviving the Muppets and the movie they did was one that HAD to be made. Plus, the new movie was filled to the brim with classic Muppet humor and vibes, so such an opinion confounds me...
Actually, those pieces are old. They were taped in 1999 and were intended to air on Odyssey as part of the promotion of "Muppets From Space". It was just before Frank officially retired from performing his Muppet Show characters.
Too true.
Regarding the hypocritical part, I think that that aspect of it all has become more and more mean-spirited and doesn't seem as funny anymore, contributing further to the Flanderization of Kermit & Piggy's relationship as well as to the Flanderization of Piggy's personality.
Oh, and...
I agree. The Flanderized version of the frog and pig's relationship makes it come across as an abusive one as well.
It's also just as disgraceful that the Flanderized version of that relationship gets displayed in written interviews and press releases (such as this one...
You forgot about quite a few of the specials here, such as "Hey Cinderella", "The Frog Prince", "The Muppet Musicians of Bremen" and "The Great Santa Claus Switch".
Out of curiosity, are there Muppet characters out there that you think have fallen victim to "Flanderization" over the years?
Here's a few examples:
I know that some sites, including ToughPigs and TVTropes.org, feel that Sam Eagle has been affected by Flanderization. As TVTropes points out...
Frank's Piggy reacted like that often times too. For instance: retreating to her dressing room, slamming the door and smashing everything in sight.
Also, to borrow a quote from a ToughPigs article:
Latter-day Muppet writers have had a hard time pinning her down, because it’s so tempting to...
I think you may have missed my point. I'm just saying that those sides of her don't get seen much today. Because those were all some of many aspects of a multi-layered three-dimensional personality. In some of her recent appearances, it just seems as if many of those layers have been taken away...
Great job on the picture!
However, I think it would've been nice if you included 80's Robot and some other characters from the Tales from Muppetland specials (Catgut, Rover Joe, Leroy, Taminella, Featherstone, King Rupert, etc.).
I agree that it was probably because they already spent a fortune on rebuilding Uncle Deadly, Thog, the Mutations, Wayne & Wanda, Behemoth, Beautiful Day Monster and the others.
Thus, they most likely didn't have enough money in the budgets to rebuild Boppity, Gloat, Lenny the Lizard...
