Let me add this one point. I'd love to be wrong about this, I'd love to be blown away by the scope and quality of this now direct-to-video sequel. The only way that's going to happen is if they SHOW US SOMETHING.
I would hazard to guess that the real reason we're [the fans] not seeing anything...
The Death Knell
My hopes for any real quality have now been flushed down the toilet.
Direct to DVD? No theatrical release whatsoever? Crazy! This is not what Jim Henson would have wanted. This move means one thing, or perhaps 3 things.
1. MONEY
2. MONEY
3. MONEY
Mirror Mask is a 'case in...
I'm in agreement with the general consensus of this anniversary edition being quite lower then sub-par. This release is keeping in line with Henson offerings being quite mediocre of late, which includes how news of the new DC sequel is being specifically side stepped.
If they're going to...
well, that's not what lisa henson said at comicon. she said that everything was back on track. the orphanage isn't in charge of physical production, they may be doing effects, but that's about it.
who knows at this point.
It's been announced that Peter Jackson is helming The Hobbit! I bet we get more information and maybe even location stills in the next month then we get in the next 6 months waiting for this DC sequel. Genndy built up quite a fan base with his previous work, I just don't understand what the hold...
You may be right Lazlo, but I hope you're not. The whole reason why TDC is getting a sequel is because of the fans. I never understand the secrecy when it comes to these things. I can definitely understand the need to wait until there is material, but for something like this, with an original...
they can wait on the trailer and still provide imagery of the film, diaries, etc... The creation of the film for many is just as interesting and engrossing as the film itself.

p.s. yes, I know the premiere has been pushed up
Here I am, back on the wonderful Muppet Central forum. I check here every day for any sort of news on The Dark Crystal sequel, and of course, there hasn't been any of late.
With The Golden Compass, Spiderwick Chronicles, Prince Caspian & one other fantasy film revealing trailers and images...
Interesting audio, and yet entirely vague.
At any rate, I don't expect anything any time soon seeing now was we are about 18 months away from a release now.
I'll chat with y'all in about 8 months.
Delayed Until 2009!
back on track usually implies BACK ON TRACK! lol I would say that this film is now on a different track, set for a different release year entirely.
Don't you just love industry spin?

Yeah, they're really sabotaging themselves. This is the time when fans could get behind them and show the studio suits or whomever that this is a worthwhile endeavor. Instead they've adopted a code of silence which has only been leading up to one conclusion, this project is dead.
Where's the meat? Where's the discussion about new projects, The Power of the Dark Crystal, the new DVD re-releases, etc...?
Why is it soo hard to get anything of substance these days?
I would bet that the film is going to be incredible as well. My concerns however are in regards to the little information we have on the film. Spring or Fall 2008 doesn't really matter to me. What matters is communication. We are the people who made DC the success it's been, and we should be the...
That was a fantastic read. Interesting to note that Henson is saying that the film is due late 2008 as opposed to the spring which has been talked about by Lisa Henson.
Hmmmm....

it does strike me as odd that they're only waiting for 2 million. 2 million isn't much, and usually, in these cases, they can go through a lender that deals with film companies. I would like some official word on this, as this is all speculation at the moment.
