I am sure there are alot of different ways. And everyone will tell you different. The way I make a head is I take a 4" thick piece of foam. I draw the shape of the head I would like to see (Smaller than actual head would be.). I am only making side profile of the head not the whole head. Then I...
There are a bunch of ways to do rods. And from what I have seen it is a matter of what you prefer. I use the wire like used in welding too. I use a torch to give it the bind that I need. I make a goat's hook at the end that slides into the hand mech. The hand mech. is made from brass rectangle...
I started a few years ago. I was working for a small church and could not afford puppets. So, took a very brief class on building. And have enjoyed ever since. Then I just put myself in front of other builders and picked their brain and watched them. So, I continue to learn and talk to other...
I thought I would put my 2 cents in here. I have bilt a few birds and Sculpt and Coat is good, but not been so satified with it. I have just cover beak with antron and shaved to make it little smoother looking which is good. Also I agree with Buck about the latex. You can take acrylic paint and...
My make my mouthplates different according to what the puppets functions will be. If it has moving eyes and eyebrows. Those things. I use two materials for mouthplate it self. Centra and Masionite board. Centra is thin pvc plastic. Sign makers use alot of this. Masionite board is just like peg...

I would go to the site that Buck offered. It is good site to start with. You can do a search for fusuits on yahoo search. You will find alot of stuff some not so good but...some really good sites with alot of how-to's and photos. Also I build full body costumes as well and if I can answer any...
I would use the eye that are pre shaped but...if you are using ping pong balls do sand them down. Sand all edges as well as the ball. Then paint them with a white flat color paint. This keeps the reflection down when lights shine on them. I use design master spray paint. You can find this in...
Anyone out there have an extra vacation fozzie in lunchbox forsale. I will pay top price for it. Please email darren@dpuppets.com or pm me. Please help!!!
Palisades has just put up there new exclusive muppet christmas figure. You need to check it out. Also when you buy one they will give a toy to the Today Show toy drive.
Don't feel bad. I think alot of us have that problem. I had not collected muppet stuff in about 2 years. But just started back up when my wife said that I need to put some of my collection on my sheeves at my office. In the last 2 months I have spent over $1000.00 picking up new stuff and things...
I have used foamies. But using latex gives little bit of a shine that you can dull down. If you cut the foam in some unique shapes and then cover with latex, then you can decay it and still have that shine that teeth have.
These are pretty much general style puppets. Nothing that you would have seen on tv. He lived close to the church and was excited that the church started a puppet team. This has been over 10 years ago if not longer.

Good luck! Not sure if you will find one. There are a few builders that have built for the muppets. You can get them to build you one. But...will be alot more than $50.00. I have two puppets from Steve Whitmire that he built for our church over 10 years ago. I have those put up in my office. I...
If you decide to use a block of foam. You will need to flock it. Same thing they do to the pigs on muppets. The unit to flock runs different prices. The one I have ran $700.00. You could cover it with cloth but, you would have too many darts in the fabric. You can hollow it out. It is a long...
I use pretty much same latex you use for special effects. Just mix acrylic paint into it. If you can get latex white in color it is easier to mix and get your color. Just test putting your paint in until you get your color you want.
I have used what Grey Seals use but not that satified with them. Now I take raw foam and cut them to look like teeth I need. Then I take liquid latex and white paint and mix them together. Then I put about 7 to 10 coats on them. They come out looking great. Hope that helps!
