A lot of the muppets you see primarily in insert segments and skits nowadays and throughout much of the 80s-90s were seen quite a bit on street scenes, particularly in the early 70s. Bert, ernie, herry, grover, mumford, harvey kneeslapper, count, and yes even kermit all had regular or somewhat...
If you look at some pics or videos from the early 70s sesame, Maria was definitely hot (and she's still pretty good looking today, for her age).
you can see her from a 1974 episode here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NftDMBKw0lI&search=sesame%20street
smokin!
i don't know why, but...
well, this WAS the link to the Near/Far sketch with the pre-Kevin Clash Elmo, circa 1980/1: http://www.youtube.com/w/Near/Far-%2...?v=inEPUfrYDWA
alas, the user removed the video for unknown reasons...
haven't seen it on the file sharing programs or youtube yet....i think the current SS has a new version of the song with Ernie singing outside in a park-like area, so they probably play it every so often....the older, classic version I haven't seen or heard in years, though it is a wonderful...
does anyone remember the animation shorts with batman and superman back in the 70s??...i vaguely recollect a few of them...it's always interesting to see the character cross-overs...like when beetle bailey had a few animated skits shown. does anyone have these to upload? been looking for them...
either there's a glitch with the site, or they're removing the ss clips due to copyright concerns maybe? the films i loaded are still in my profile, but don't show up when you do a "sesame street" search anymore.
you can view them here: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=PiLfan...
anyone know who did elmo's voice in this skit?...looks like it dates from sometime between '79-82.
it's good to see the other three monster muppets in there too...i vaguely remember them from watching the program in the late 70s, but i think they've been retired for years (except for the...
Elmo's humble beginnings...
one of the clips on here is of particular interest from a SS historical perspective.
long before Elmo "took over" the program (though to be honest, as monopolizing as the Elmo World segments are, I tried watching a few out of morbid curiosity and find that they...
i may be thinking of a different Mumford and grover skit, but wasn't part of the joke that, instead of the carrot disappearing, Mumford ate the carrot but Grover turned into a rabbit? (i don't think Grover realized what happened, and at the end of the skit he just kind of hopped away)...
i always find it interesting to see major actors who got their start on these kid programs.
Stockard Channing?? i had no idea she was the "number painter victim"...i haven't seen one of those segments in almost 20 years, so i can't even recall there ever being a woman in those things (just...
yeah i recall that...an animated "O", with a lot of others falling into it and a background chorus singing "oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh"...and the animated O bouncing on top of a hill top, with folk guitars strumming along...then the sequence begins.
but until the lyrics were posted, i couldn't...
it was a song (folk guitar and some backup singers), though the lead singer was more "speaking" his lines than singing them i guess.
i remember this cartoon as well, and i was going to post something on here about it before, but i couldn't recall hardly ANY of the lyrics, and the animation is...
i was watching this film last night for the first time in over a decade, and i forgot about the cameo appearance the classic sesame street gang makes at the end in the wedding chapel.
it was great to see the classic characters all together...including the ones who seem to have...
there must have been precious few of these...he only performed him for one year (1984), and begrudgingly at that. do you know of any skits/songs Hunt did as Elmo?
Herry isn't shown much, but i do remember one street appearance he made (i think) last season...it was the one where Elmo and Zoey were pretending to be aliens from Kalupa or wherever. He was sitting near the basement dwelling of 123 SS, reading a book, where he said hello to Elmo and Zoey as...
hold the phone...is this something Sprout is doing on a regular basis?...or is it a one-time special thing? no need to rush and get a direct TV channel until you get all the facts.
