What did you explode the head with? Did you do a quick switch, and blow up a place-holder head?

I use tan, myself. I use a very little bit for a pale white skin, and more for a bit of a tan. Works pretty well for me.

It's a nice looking puppet, absolutely. The dress you made for her looks quite good, well done on that. The puppet looks slightly too happy to be Angelina Jolie (Ms. Jolie always looks like she's either headed into or coming back from a glass of something strong), but it's really nice.
