    how to kill zombie puppets

What did you explode the head with? Did you do a quick switch, and blow up a place-holder head?

This flesh color using rit dye?

I use tan, myself. I use a very little bit for a pale white skin, and more for a bit of a tan. Works pretty well for me.

    My Cylon Centurion is complete!

I've finished my Centurion puppet (which makes 2 out of 5 for the project!), and despite only taking a couple days, I think he's looking pretty bad-***. Here's a cool shot of him: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2434/3682902650_50df68d6c7_m.jpg And here's the photoset on Flickr, if you're...

    Favorite Puppet podcast?

Well, shucks, thanks! My answer would be Jigsaw, which is terribly funny and quirky: jigsawfanclub.com Though a quick and easy description is tricky, it's worth checking it out.

    Angelina Jolie puppet on Ebay

It's a nice looking puppet, absolutely. The dress you made for her looks quite good, well done on that. The puppet looks slightly too happy to be Angelina Jolie (Ms. Jolie always looks like she's either headed into or coming back from a glass of something strong), but it's really nice.

Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board

Looks like some fun stuff. It was a little hard to hear what was going on, as the audience was being picked up louder than the performers, though. The biggest problem for me is trying to remember what Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board is (paranormal game, I remember, but the specifics elude...

    New puppet: Walt Mossberg!

Thanks! No, I'm not going to give him a nose, I think it would make his face too cluttered.

    New puppet: Walt Mossberg!

I took a brief detour from my BSG puppets to build a Walt Mossberg puppet, for a video thing I'm doing with my friend, which will hopefully make it to Newsweek's site in the near future. Check out puppet Mossberg! He turned out really well, I think...

    Colonel Tigh's Pants!

Hey all, I'm doing my BSG puppetbuilding work, and partway through Tigh and Tyrol. I'm excitedly jumping ahead to the outfitting, because I think I'm starting to get a handle on that part. This morning I just made some pants for the Colonel Tigh puppet, which I think came out pretty well. He...

    Inflating/Deflating Puppet (any ideas?)

Possibly foolish question, but will the puppet be seen at a fixed perspective? I imagine it wouldn't work, but if you made the puppet in pieces, you could walk the puppet stomach closer when you need it to get bigger. That wouldn't work at all if you're doing a theatre performance, which you...

How much of the puppets need to grow and shrink? Which body parts?

    Dr. Quack on eBay

That's a great beak! Did you carve it from a single piece of reticulated foam?

    Skeletal Tyrol and Tigh

I'm working on the next couple of BSG puppets, and this photo of the foam structure of Tyrol and Tigh looks pretty cool, I think: http://www.flickr.com/photos/inelegant/3627974514/ I'm planning on getting fabric over their torso and arms and legs today, so they'll at least look cohesive. :)

I've finished my Caprica Six puppet!

Hey all, For those of you who might be interested in looking at the process in even greater detail, I've started posting the making-of videos for Caprica Six here: http://www.buildingpuppets.hoggworks.com/category/capricasix/ There's just the first installment up now, but the second will be...

I've finished my Caprica Six puppet!

Thanks re the body and the dress; I didn't know I could make this nice a dress, either. I may have to use my wife as a test for future dress building ... :) The Count, this is one of the Battlestar Galactica puppets I'm building. Why I'm building it is something of a long story, but it's a...

I've finished my Caprica Six puppet!

Hey all, So after *much* work, I've got my Caprica Six puppet finished! (well, I need to give her a couple more finger nails, but aside from that she's done) She turned out pretty well, though I'm not as happy about her face as I'd like to be. The first iteration of the lips were not right, but...

    Cylon pattern?

I suppose I'd have to whip up some directions for it before sharing. Hmm.

    Cylon pattern?

Hey all, As some of you might know, I've been working on some cylon patterns for a BSG thing I'm hoping to do. I was going to do four "human" puppets and one metal cylon, and the fourth puppet changed fairly recently. As a result, I've got a neat looking head pattern for Helo...

What would you like to learn about puppet building?
