I do believe it was Mr. Wotjal (ravagefreak, or perhaps I'm getting the username wrong). As I recall he built and performed, but they dubbed someone else's voice in.
Strictly speaking that's true, but someone took a Master Replica Kermit apart, and photographed the pieces, then sent them to the folks over at Swazzle. It's on Flickr.
Finding the pattern is different from using the pattern, though; I think going with Project Puppet or something similar is a...
It would've been Director; it's long been a feature of the app that you can do some good analysis of imagery that you pull in, but Flash doesn't have it. In the most recent version of Flash you can track motion in the camera field, but as far as I know you're just able to get a value...
There are BSG patches on eBay -- there're a bunch, actually -- but I was looking to get something smaller. I think I'm going to go the fabric-painting-a-circle-of-fabric route, as that seems by far the cheapest (and probably even the quickest).
Thanks for the help, everybody. It's really...
I'm having a heck of a time placing this fabric:

I'm thinking of the main suit; it looks rubbery with an almost gasoline-covered shine to it. Any thoughts?
Hey all,
The basic electric carving knife is pretty awesome, and I'm loving using it, but it's a little big, and makes detail work a little tricky. Do any of you know of any smaller carving knives? Something 4-6 inches would be pretty groovy. Alternatively, if there are any good Dremel/rotary...
I hadn't, no, thanks for the link. I'm thinking that they should be smaller, as they're for the puppets, which are 1/4 scale, or something like that. The reduction in size will also allow for me to simplify the design somewhat.
Hey everybody,
I was curious to know if anyone knows of a way to get custom embroidered patches (like this:http://battlestar.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/ebl252.jpg), or a good way to simulate it.
I was thinking that short of ordering a run of custom patches (when I'll need somewhere...
I just made the second prototype of her torso, again based on photo reference. It's much closer to what I want, though I imagine if I were able to get a block of reticulated foam, it would be even better. :)
Here're the pics, if anyone is interested to check it out...
For the BSG puppets I'm doing, I finally got myself an electric carving knife and a hunk of foam, and took my first stab at building a puppet torso.
There are lots of ways I'm going to improve on the result for next time, but for a first attempt (in any real way), I think it turned out nicely...
Ah, okay, I understand. Thank you for clarifying. It's a little odd that you'd think that variation would be unprofessional, but I see where you're coming from.
I started with some more commonly muppet-esque designs (by which I think most people think early sesame street/muppet show), but have...
I've got a bunch of behind-the-scenes from season one of dotBoom, and I believe there are a few bits about the building of the sets. They're here:

I've got some also for season 2, but I don't, at present, have a proper studio set-up, so my desk is...
Thanks for the compliments, wes, I'm glad you like my stuff.
I'd be curious to know what you mean when you say they look nubeish, though; what do you mean?
