The Problems with Modern Sesame Street

Muppets can be humanoids like Scooter, Roosevelt, Statler, Bunsen, etc. They can also be animals, monsters, etc. I don't see why we have to choose between one or the other.

The Problems with Modern Sesame Street

Sesame has been "PC" since 1969. It literally airs on PBS, a network conservatives want defunded.

The Problems with Modern Sesame Street

I feel like everyone's personal "classic era" ends when they stopped watching the show as a kid. That goes for me too because I stopped watching right before Abby's appearance. In my opinion, season 36 was the end of great Sesame. But, I'd still prefer seasons 37-45 over the HBO ones.

When would the next Muppet film have released if Jim hadn't died?

Something that I've thought about is the fact that, when Jim Henson died in 1990, it had been a whopping 6 years since the last Muppet film. They generally made one every 2-3 years, and yet there really was no theatrical release in sight at that time. I know Jim was focused on other endeavors...

My opinion on Elmo has changed

Elmo's World (and in extension Elmo: The Musical) annoyed me for 2 reasons 1. Elmo was the only major character to regularly appear in these segments 2. When the show was an hour long, it took up 25% of the show and stopped the flow of good segments. You just knew the fun of the show was over...

My opinion on Elmo has changed

I have to agree with this thread. Even though I grew up with Elmo, I jumped on the Elmo hate train once I outgrew Sesame. I would say that he ruined the show and that things were better before he took over. While I still think Elmo's World is boring and that there are way better characters, I...

My Wishlist for Which Projects the Muppets Should Do in the Future

Elmo was supposed to have a cameo in The Muppets 2011, but it was cut by the Children's Television Workshop.

Bruce Schwartz's name in the eighth episode of the fifth season of The Muppet Show on Disney+

It's pretty ironic that the only guest star to appear two times on The Muppet Show is never credited. It is odd but I think he deserves the mention.

My Wishlist for Which Projects the Muppets Should Do in the Future

I almost wish Disney would give up ownership of The Muppets. That way, we'd get more content, maybe even a theatrical release. If a smaller company were to own them, they would be a large priority. In Disney, Muppets are just a tiny spec compared to other stuff they have like Marvel and Star Wars.

    grover in muppets

That is one thing I miss from the original Muppet film trilogy. Maybe one day Disney will give up ownership and we'll get to see Sesame and Muppet characters mingle again.

    PBS Kids was influential

WordWorld and The Zula Patrol were some of my favorites a kid (though I usually caught Zula on Qubo). And I also watched the 2009 Electric Company, which is technically the "new" version even though it came out 14 years ago. Used to also love shows like "Between the Lions", "Zoboomafoo"...

Celebrities you would like to have seen as guest stars on The Muppet Show:

Yes, I would have loved to see John Ritter guest star in an episode. It seems they tried to correct their error by having him appear in The Fantastic Miss Piggy Show, but it was just not the same. Suzanne Somers, Richard Kline, or Joyce DeWitt would have fit in perfectly as well. Outside of...

    Annoying Characters

While we're on the topic of Muppets Tonight, Andy and Randy Pig were pretty insufferable.

Sesame Street Season 54 News and Rumors

The thing with Sesame Street is that they could easily repackage old skits and brand it as a new episode.

Richard Hunt and Muppet Christmas Carol

Since we're on the subject of Hunt, I noticed that his voice got a lot deeper in the mid '80s. Especially in the Muppets Take Manhattan, Scooter and Janice have significantly deeper voices than they did just 3 years ago in Muppet Caper. I wonder why that was.

    The Return of "Muppet What-Ifs?"

I don't think he'd do a terrible job actually, Scooter and Ernie have a similar vocal tone.

Richard Hunt and Muppet Christmas Carol

That's interesting to hear. Do you know when they filmed it? I'd guess production began sometime in mid-1991.

Is there an overrated/underrated Muppet production?

I don't know, I'd say Follow That Bird is a great film.

Is there an overrated/underrated Muppet production?

The hate for Muppets From Space is something I will never understand. Of all the muppet films made in the last 35 years, it captures the energy of the characters, franchise, and humor best. I will always stand by it.

Length of time performers work continued past their recasts

I know that Jim Henson was still credited as a performer on Sesame Street until 2001. Not sure how long Hunt or Nelson were. I think one of Jerry Nelson's last performance as the Count (8 is great song) still airs every so often.
