Re: Alex
Well, if it is the same puppet, it's had a nose job! The Season 1 Gonzo has a pretty distinctive schnozz, and the puppet that flew into 'Alakazam' looks very different.

Also note that "Super Gonzo's" eyes...
Re: Alex,
Yeah, I can see him, I just couldn't swear to which build of the puppet that is :-) I'd be pretty surprised if the original puppet was still around three years after being replaced, though.
Re: Daffy,
I've just had a look at my copy. I can't tell for sure about the Gonzo seen in the 'goodnights', as he's right at the back of the frame and pretty blurred, but the Gonzo that flies in during 'Alakazam' is not the Season 1 puppet. Trust me on this ;-)
Not really. Unless you're watching your tapes several times a day, 365 days a year, they're not going to build up the kind of damage this machine claims to be able to repair. While the machine isn't chemical, it is abrasive, which is not a good thing :-)
VHS - and other helical scan formats...
The Disney Channel in Australia have some (but not all) with the original titles; Germany have a full set, as do France. I've not seen any broadcasts in the UK that still have the original titles.
Ok, the Mummenschanz ep uses the set of titles which end with Gonzo blowing a small green balloon out of his trumpet. I don't have the Juliet Prowse ep to check.
Re: Re: Re: Alex,
Well, there's only four Season 1 shows available from Time-Life right now, so even if they do all use the same opening titles, it could be no more than coincidence.
Re: Alex,
Well, it slots in where Statler and Waldorf's comments would normally be, and in fact there's at least one other show where they did something like that. I can't remember which one off the top of my head, but instead of the old geezers, there's a shot of Scooter doing something...
Re: Alex,
Right now the only thing I can think of is that in the original shot, Kermit announces Vincent, and then pulls a face, so maybe they decided it couldn't be edited around. It presumably wasn't due to the master tape being damaged, since I have at least two copies of the original :-)
From what I've seen, either the opening varied from show to show, or else there is more than one edit of some shows :-) In general, the shows used their original opening shot of Kermit introducing the show, simply cutting off before he closes the 'O'. However, at least on my copy, the Vincent...
