One thing I'm confused about, and this might be more suitable as it's own thread, is when Martin Robinson joined the show. Most sources I've seen (the 40th anniversary book, Robinson's official bio, etc.) say he joined in 1980 (Sesame Street Unpaved says 1979), which would be season 12. But in...
I wonder if the franchise would be ruined if they made a very dark Muppet movie. Not sure what kind of a dark plot would be right for the Muppets, but it seems like it'd be interesting.
I'm sure Statler and Waldorf would like to see a dark Muppet movie, so they wouldn't have to see a thing!
Honeslty for some reason I'll be surprised if the DVD of the movie is even a two-disc set (not counting the Blu-Ray release which would probably include the regular DVD as a bonus).
Regardless of whether any of the Muppets past work gets included, my main hope for the DVD is for it to include...
While I really want the bonus features on the DVD release of The Muppets to be directly related to the new movie, suddenly I can't help but wonder if it'd be a good idea for the DVD to contain a bonus disc showcasing existing material. Maybe call it "The Best of the Muppets" or something like...
I'd say the Teresa Brewer and John Cleese episodes are the most fun. Many of the craziest episodes have their serious moments despite the craziness, but those two don't have any real serious scenes (well, Teresa Brewer's numbers are more entertaining than funny). But every sketch in those two...
I don't see how not existing below the waist would prevent someone from having a sexuality. Besides, they do exist below the waist. Bert existed below the waist in the "Doin' the Pigeon" number, Ernie existed below the waist in "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon", "The Insects in Your...
I didn't watch the appearance, but did watch the clip in the link provided. It didn't seem that specila to me, though I did enjoy Miss Piggy and that female wrestler doing what looked like rubbing their chests/breasts together.
Based on what I read about the appearance, it looks like the event...
I liked his (unfinished) series of articles on the proposed Henson-Disney merger. And I wish his Muppet Central articles were posted (especially since they were announced). I read that The Jim Henson Company saw the articles in advance and asked that they not be posted at Muppet Central until...
I wonder who did the voice of the Mirinda Craver. The red book article mentions four different people who did the puppetry (I assume at different times), but doesn't say who did the voice. The voice sounds familiar to me, but I can't pinpoint it on anybody associated with the Muppets.
You know, when I first heard the song, I initially thought it was Richard Hunt, but by the end I could tell it was Kevin Clash. Man, this makes me think he could have taken over as Statler and Sweetums.
With today being Halloween, I am suddenly reminded of a mistake I had regarding the Julie Andrews episode. In the Alice Cooper episode, Kermit remarks that "it wasn't spooky like this when Julie Andrews did the show". And that line made me thing the Julie Andrews episode was horror-themed.
Of...
Something I've just wondered: Have there been any cases where you wanted to link to a clip, but nobody uploaded that clip on YouTube? Of course, there's not much from the Muppets (and I'm only counting ones from The Muppet Show and related productions) that are not available online, but still.
I can't really think of any other Kevin Clash character who sounds like his Splinter. Though I did notice hints of Splinter in the voice of Billy Idle, the singer of Rebel L (his voice sounds to me like a mix of Clifford, Splinter, and a hint of Leon).
Has anybody heard of Muppet commercials for a european soft drink called Mirinda? There's an article about it: http://www.henson.com/jimsredbook/2011/10/30/10301975/
One thing I was surprised to learn about: These commercials were made in 1975, and Louise Gold actually performed in them. I...
