This thread was started nearly a year ago though (i.e. back before Disney acquired the Muppets)... I guess that means we won't be seeing another 5 volumes in the Time Life series... :(
However in the past Disney have done some great work with their Disney Treasures limited edition DVDs...
I have the Region 1 release where they squeezed all nine episodes onto one disc and was just wondering if the Region 2 release is noticeably better quality?
To be honest although I wasn't blown away by the picture quality on the American release I still found it very watchable but I would...
I'm not sure it's exactly newsworthy as they do a surprise section every week on Ant & Dec. Quite often these spots involve cult TV shows too - off the top of my head they've had Mastermind, Countdown, Blockbusters and Stars in their Eyes (okay that last one isn't really a cult show but you get...
I'm kind of out of the loop - does the sale to Disney mean that only they can release new DVDs/videos and older Columbia TriStar ones will go out of circulation?
I assume that Columbia TriStar won't be releasing 20 volumes on DVD in the States like they originally stated? I'm glad I got the...
D'oh! Yup you're right - I was in work when I replied so I didn't have my DVDs to hand to check!
The Diana Ross one was on the Time Life DVDs which was were I got mixed up! So I already had both Diana Ross & Kenny Rogers on DVD from TimeLife and only Johnny Cash was new.
It still sucked...
The Diana Ross episode was part of the HMV exclusive DVD set so I already had that - in fact all I really got for my £14.99 was the Kenny Rogers episode and the butchered to pieces 2nd half of Muppet Fairy Tales... oh and the really great interactive "game" ;)
It's worth noting that www.play.com has it at the exact same price with free shipping. I haven't pre-ordered mine as I'm still feeling let down after paying £14.99 for the Very Best of the Muppet Show Vol. 3... that disc was a stinker! !
Well I couldn't decide whether to buy this online or wait until it came out and pick it up... but I cracked this morning and ordered it at play.com (£14.99 delivered)... it showed up as In Stock as soon as I placed my order and the posted shortly afterwards!
So hopefully I'll get this in the...
That is GREAT news! :excited:
It's only a shame that cover doesn't say "Vol. 1" or something to indicate this being a series! :smirk: But I guess if it sells well enough we'll be seing more releases!
play.com do still mention the 30 Year Special but I just noticed something odd:
The cover on Play.com has three lines of unreadable dialogue at the bottom of it...

Whereas the newly posted cover pic at...
They also have the running time listed as the aforementioned 150 minutes too... which is too long to be just three episodes & the 2nd Muppet Fairy Tales. Notice they say "Includes: " - my guess is the 30 Years special is the main feature the rest are the extra features... again, we'll find out...
No he's right - it's not "Jim Henson's The StoryTeller" it's a box set of something called "Storytellers" but they've raided the cast & crew info from our beloved StoryTeller!!! :boo:
It could be but the previous 2 DVDs were of course the 50 minute compilations that had previously been available on VHS for some time - but they were only ever two "Very Best of..." compilations done so it's debatable whether it would be worth Columia TriStar's time and indeed money putting...
I just checked BlackStar and the old UK VHS of the 30 Years special was 47 minutes long. So if Columbia TriStar were roundind down to the nearest minute we would have: 3 x 25 minute episodes + 32 minute Fairy Tales + 47 minute 30 Years special... that gives 154 minutes.
So if Columbia TriStar...
