Funny - I don't really remember the 1977 blackout itself, but I do remember all the fallout after...if you recall, there was quite a baby boom in NYC 9 months later. I wonder how many 26-year-olds on this board are here as a result?
It would only stand to reason that SS would do a show on...
Geez, guys - I just read this entire thread in one sitting! If I were a Henson employee (which you all can be assured I'm not) I'd be laughing my behind off! :zany:
I'm sure they all get a giant kick out of the anonimity and the fact that they're so hero-worshipped. And, for you folks out...
Though it's true - I wish SS would list the guest stars in the credits (or say their names on the show) I TRY to be sophisticated, but some of them just blow right past me.
Like the woman who sang "We Are All Earthlings" at the beginning of season 33 - gospel singer? Anybody?
Phil, I appreciate your attempt to find facts in this matter. I think it's even more sad when people are embarrassed about the truth. I agree, it doesn't undo the work he did for SS.
IMDB lists cause of death as stomach cancer. Mental illness is rarely listed as a cause of death (though it...
I think the Mail-It shop was created because it has a relationship to letters and numbers (plus the Fix-its aforementioned obsolescence) It's a place where you write letters, look up stuff on computers, make copies, and send things - and there are many like it that kids might see. I...
I really miss some of the "older" stuff I think my son would like, like the Muppet Newsflashes, and the story-telling time they used to do - it was kind of like Fractured Fairytales.
I just don't get why the only "girl" video they put out has, as its focus, a complex dance number I couldn't...
Yup, been there myself...and if you're performing a live puppet show within throwing range, you can guarantee that somebody's going to throw something at you.
The (sort of) positive in all this is that people get so wrapped up in the characters that they forget there's a real human being...
Yay, Yay, Yay! Thank you SS!!! Finally!!!! And look at all these other great tracks! Is there somewhere we can pre-order a copy?
PS. thanks for the listing gbrobeck! Where did you find it?
I agree that SS is getting babyish and I dislike this. I think that they can and should do shows that appeal to two and three year olds without babyfying them.
Two and three year olds aren't stupid! Just younger!
So what's the target age in Holland?
This tape is on half.com if you want another one: be a little careful of the quality, the first one we got dropped out. The company was happy to replace it for me, though.
It's also in our library on CD, but I can't find it anywhere! The CD has a terrific photo album not included in the...
That video is one of the most prized in my collection; FAR and away better than the dreadful "Kid's Favorite Songs" videos.
You can usually find copies on half.com, or on Amazon's Zshops (or in thrift stores, where I find them)
Funny story - at around age two, my son was running around the house making hitting motions and yelling "pnud buddr SAMICH!!!" Took us forever to figure out that he was not connecting snack foods with violence, but was in point of fact imitating Mumford.
"Television is essentially self-governing: There are certain requirements for kids' shows, but it's up to producers to meet those requirements. Writers and producers have a great deal of freedom, and if an issue of contention arises, it is discussed and decided internally."
OK, that being...
Just rented Zoe's Dance Moves for my son, and was kind of amazed and dissapointed at the same time. I can't imagine that any two or three year old would be physically able to copy the dance on the show, no matter how many times they watched it.
My son is three, and despite my rabid fandom...

Of course, many of the characters you listed are either owned by the Muppets (now a seperate entity, hopefully not for long as the Hensons bought them back) or were performed by people who have passed on or retired. I don't think anybody wants them forgotten.....
